The Demi-Godly One
What armour do you use in the beggining? Megapol or marsec? I actually use all megapol I don't even use the marsec chest piece, even with the X-com armour.
NKF
Early game: I just wear what's available. Weaker soldiers balance their load by getting marsec limbs to reduce weight, and certain soldiers get flight plates. You'd probably be amused at how ragtag my soldiers sometimes look. One arm a huge robot marsec arm while the other a megapol arm greave, or maybe wearing bulky looking marsec armour while wearing the thinner megapol trousers. Sometimes I even colour code my soldiers by giving one team marsec helmets and the other megapol helmets. I know, it's rather silly, but it's really just for the look of the thing. Or maybe unique units in a team get a different helmet... still, it's rather pointless. Mid game:Once I get personal shields, armour becomes more standardised. Full suits of one particular set of armour for everyone! (marsec plates still get given to air support units) Psi-specialists sometimes don't wear any armour at all, but carry more shields. I know, a little crazy, but pretty good as long as the shields hold. You should look at the buggers go though! Anyway I don't normally do this if they're a bit stronger. Late game: Full suits of disrupter armour. In the old forums I did mention shooting an unshielded soldier in full X-Com armour with 6 dimension missiles... and surviving with negligable damage. Whereas a disrupter+marsec combo had a slightly higher mortality rate (survives at least 2 - 3 missiles though, so it's still way better than with other marsec or megapol bits) I still like to have at least one or two units with a flight plate, as there are some situations where being able to fly can turn out be very useful. Such as getting stuck in a hole and having no way of getting out, so the soldier with flight armour can 'lend' the suit to the stuck comrade for a bit. Or maybe even having a team assault a UFO through the turrets while the rest guard the entrance. Etc. Variety is nice. - NKF
dauphinbienveillant
I'm like you Demi-Godly One, when you begin the game, you don't have enough cash to buy the Marsec pieces and there less effective than the Megapol one and when I can, I make X-COM Armor, but I must recognize I sometimes regret to don't have a flying agent, for example, when I "destroy" a vessel floor and I can't go to the lift to kill the last panicking alien on the last floor of the ship, but even after many of these dark experiences, I always use non-flying armors, the only exception is when they have the entropy launcher and that I don't have the shields or any more megapol armors. Psy Guy
Early game - All Megapol armor and i have one squad that act as snipers that wear all marsec. My troops early on don't take to much damage so armor isn't a prob. Cheaper is better for me. While Mid Game when shields are in the picture. Everyone has marsec body, legs, and the rest megapol. The hybrids and special ops pack full marsec. Late game (disruptor armor) i have 2 squads wear all x-com armor, 1 squad wears marsec body and rest x-com, and one android wearing any armor that won't slow him.... her.... err.... "IT" down and cost the least (psymorph killer that is holding vortex mines  ) Everyone has shields (two), the heavy troopers have three, and the toxic solders plus ammo monkeys have 4 . -PSY GUY-
