That's a couple of hits easier, but I still remember a few terrifying terror sites where they seemed to turn 2 civilians each turn for 3 straight turns, resulting in a map full of zombies, then Chrysalids and a bunch of soldiers with low ammo Definitely scary stuff, but that's what makes the game fun as well! Here is the entry from ufopaedia: "Zombie-spawned Chryssalids suffer from a oversight in the game code which means that they will always have their core stats, unadjusted by difficulty level. In difficulties above Beginner, this means that Chryssalids birthed from Zombies will have lower stats than those that spawned at the beginning of the mission, and are thus less dangerous. However, if playing in Beginner mode, armor of units is adjusted to 50% of core for all units. This means that in Beginner mode, Zombie-spawned Chryssalids will be significantly better armored than mission-start Chryssalids! So if you're playing on Beginner, make sure you are prepared to kill a Chryssalid significantly stronger than what you have been facing normally!" OUCH! He drops his rocket launcher and runs back into the transport to get that extra minigun! Bam! A snakeman falls to the ground dead! That alien Jman shot in the park is back up. Pete draws his plasma pistol and starts firing! A tree is mowed down in the opening volleys. Then, moments later, he finally kills it! Klaus takes point seeing as he's the redshirt and he's well...injured. An alien gets back up and he guns it down! Looks like someone panicked and dropped his gun... Looks like we found that alien that was shot up with stray fire... Klaus nails another unarmed, panicking alien! Tycho approaches the warehouse. He's cautious about it though as there's one of those damned crab things in there! He walks up and kicks open the door...An unarmed snakeman is standing there like an idiot.. He moves back out of the way while Klaus drops the alien...Someone panics....Let's go hunting. Tycho spots the alien running out of the warehouse and it stops in front of the window to the south. Klaus rounds the corner and guns him down. Tycho advances through the warehouse...Seems that crab thing hears him moving. It rushes toward him, but stops short and retreats without enough time to attack. Tycho raises his plasma pistol and opens fire!...Ok the mission didn't end...something must have gotten back up.. Time to go hunting, oh joy! This looks suspicious..we shot an alien over here, and there's just a pistol on the ground where the body once was. Get on that men! Thorondor spots the alien and wastes him! Mission accomplished! 16 civilians were killed in the mayhem. We barely have a positive score, but at least it's better than no responding to the attack! This Thorondor clone is totally rocking, nearly up to 20 kills. Klaus is laid up in the infirmary for the next month, he totally wiped out a lot of aliens last time out. Welcome to the squad EBM! Our engineers arrive in Europe. This is enough to max out our laser cannon production. In New Guinea, our craft armaments arrive. Another UFO is detected. It's over Japan and moving south. We scramble our interceptor to follow it. We give chase to the south. The saucer touches down in the Borneo jungle...Euro Squad, you're up! Or he just got a lot of really high damage rolls! -Jman, are you using the enhanced AI mod? I am wondering due to the way the Chrys in the warehouse acted. The door to the UFO slides open. A bolt of plasma flies through the air. A scream is heard as one of the redshirts drops to the ground dead. Shuji steps out and spots the bastard. SV fires off a rocket into the side of the craft, killing the alien in the blast! Silencer and Thorondor scout on the east side of the map. Silencer spots this guy coming out into a clearing in the jungle. Thorondor opens fire with his plasma pistol knocking him unconscious. They advance further. Another alien is spotted floating in the trees. Thorondor repeatedly fires on it, hits twice, but it just won't die! Silencer retreats back into cover... Silencer watches that alien that Thor shot eariler get back up and wander around aimlessly. He also sees another alien coming out of the jungle. SV: Fire! The armed alien that just showed up is blown to hell with a large rocket to the face! OMG! DIE GOD DAMN YOU!!!!! Another pair of aliens come out in the open. SV fires on the farthest alien, Silencer drops the closest one with his pistol. Another alien shows up and Silencer kills it. Thorondor catches up, kneels behind some cover and reloads his pistol. Shuji goes in and out of the craft a few times and guns down two aliens. Silencer spots another alien in the jungle. Unable to do anything about it, he radios back to SV who brings the hunt on it! With no more rockets remaining, SV drops his launcher and reverts to being a reaction trooper. Shuji moves in again and fires on another alien that is standing near the entryway. Moments later, two more aliens come from the bridge! Shuji picks one, and fires! The alien drops to the ground, but his buddy returns fire. This shot narrowly misses Shuji...but the guy behind him takes it in the chest and dies. Shuji returns fire and avenges his comrad! 10 aliens killed, one taken prisoner. This was quite the mission. Lots of dead aliens, a completely intact and fueled craft and only 2 redshirts killed. Also, congratulations to Klaus Brehme for his promotion to Sergeant! As our craft lifts off from the battle. We receive news from our base that they have finalized the blueprints for a powerful new craft weapon based on alien technology. 2 of these will be built for each of our bases. After returning to base, we sell all the spoils of war for a cool 4.9 million! Silencer receives a suit of armor since apparently he didn't have one and our 3rd interceptor arrives in New Guinea. Our craft weapons finish after about a day. We equip two to our Euro transport and transfer the other ones to the other bases. Our engineers then focus on making EBM's laser gun which will be done in 7 hours. Our base in the far east picks up a UFO off of Australia. We can't shoot it down yet, so we're going to wait on it to land. We'll have to equip the craft as best we can as all of our supplies aren't at the base yet. NKF will take an autocannon, EBM will take a rocket launcher. Our strongest redshirt will get the other cannon, and the rest will get pistols. Good hunting! After the terror mission the last battle was a little anti-climatic so I don't have much to comment on: we lost only a couple of red-shirts. Also, could you have Tycho carry an extra pistol on his belt, in case he gets into a situation were taking the time to reload vs whipping out a second pistol could make the difference between getting another round of shots. Can't wait for next AAR post! BTW, Tycho's idea is a really great one. At least for the poor suckers that carry pistols only. I like having my launcher as first choice. As we haven't had time to prepare at this base, we do not have smoke cover. A floater approaches from the west. It sets down in a wheat field near our location. Andrea draws her pistol and starts firing! All shots...miss!....NKF steps from behind the landing gear and opens up....all shots hit the ground everywhere BUT where that alien is standing...Uta fires blindly, she also doesn't kill it.. EBM crawls through the landing gear to get a shot...ONE shot. The floater drops to the ground dead. NKF steps out a little further and spots an alien that is about to enter that building. He levels his AC and opens fire. But all of his shots either hit the building or fall short. He calls back for EBM to take careful aim at the fencing....BOOM. The floater screams as he falls to the ground. A hot burst of plasma sails through the air. A human scream is heard as a redshirt bites it. Andrea spotted the bastard, he was over near the door of the UFO. She pulls a proximity grenade from her belt, primes it and tosses it near the door. With luck, we'll blast his ass if he tries that again... NKF spots an alien in the top floor of that farm house. He takes a few pot shots, but fails to actually hit the alien. With that AC not working out, EBM goes for the direct approach and blows out the entire wall... Brett raises his pistol and fires! The alien drops to the ground dead. With the alien dead, NKF then procedes on his way around the building. We rig up another proxy while Brett and NKF get into sniping positions around the craft. Several minutes pass...looks like they're holing up in there waiting on us to enter.... Andrea pulls out a demo pack, drops it next to the craft and hauls ass! Mission accomplished! 6 aliens were killed, one X-com trooper killed. Not too bad considering that this was a green squad. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We also work on some new armor because our ranks are really starting to expand. EBM's stats are coming along nicely. He has sniper accuracy and his strength is up over 40. This guy's gonna be a beast. Now that all our stuff has arrived, we can finally outfit this squad properly! Ah...a medium UFO...I wonder what these things do...It's heading east over Siberia, with luck we can get to it before it escapes...Our not... We pick up the craft again in the Russian far east. Our interceptor moves on it and shoots it down. Our interceptor returns home since it's AmeriCom's turn to enter the fray. Mero Posted March 23, 2012 Share Posted March 23, 2012 This is an awesome read Yeah new to these forums, but been playing x-com for ages though. came here looking to find that uniform/armor color mod ^^ and found it. fun story, about as fun as watching a good let's play. If you got any room left sign me up for a tour, prefer dual wield laser pistols but you don't use that mod so heavy laser is also fine. you can use me as a rusher, being carefull is for pussies, besides the cloning vat's need to be used or else they will get rusty ^^ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
