With the acquired funds we build a workshop to allow us to expand our manufacturing. Pete is wounded for the next week. He got 2 kills out there today and got his Squaddie stripe. NKF was a beast his first time out. A combination of AC and laser pistol work savaged their asses! SV continues to be a lucky bastard and his accuracy and strength are climbing, he'll probably take over BB's rocket launcher. Jman got 2 stuns and a kill on that disc at the very end. Finally netting him some combat exp. We've got an engineer and a leader in here. Excellent work! We get our new troops cloned. Both Silencer and BB have high firing accuracy and strength. They'll go back into heavy weapons ASAP. Our engineers build two new suits of armor for the squad as Silencer and BB got theirs melted by plasma. We got another contact!...but it's moving like a bat out of hell and our interceptor can't catch up with it... Our base in Florida is completed, at the start of the next month, we'll move in with troops to garrison it. Very nice, we're still hanging in there. Doing well at Pretoria really helped us out here. The psi attacks stopped, then started back up. So I figured out that the unarmed alien running around was the leader and had to wait on the guy with the stun launcher to stop panicking so he could be dropped again. It was last reported off the coast of Norway. Our American interceptor diverts to France to expand our coverage of the area. Our Eurasian interceptor flies down the length of Scandinavia while our American is still in route. Couple of hours later, we get a radar contact from our American base! Looks like we missed it, it's now over South America and headed out of radar range at a high rate of speed. Time to recall those interceptors and get them refueling, we've missed out this time. Or maybe we didn't... ALPHA SQUAD. WE'RE SCRAMMBLING! GET YOUR ASSES ON THE TRANSPORT, NOW! Luckily, those bastards don't take off while we're in route. Luckily NKF's armor negates all the damage and he fires again dropping the alien. Strike moves out, he sees an alien next to the farmhouse. NFK fires on it with two snap shots taking it out. As Strike moves out, he hears a door open up behind him... NKF opens up on the door destroying it. Nothing screamed, and we're sure something is there... So Silencer opens up on it too. The body is destroyed in a 3 round burst. Strike continues his partol. Jman and SV do the same on the other side of the LZ. BB, NKF and Silencer hang back ready to unleash hell on anything that is spotted. Strike continues his sweep and spots the UFO. It's a medium scout, which is the most dangerous type of alien craft to clear depite being so small. He gets uneasy as he's probably the most expendable member of the squad and you know how these things can go... SV and Jman continue to clear their area before we move on the UFO. NKF climbs up through the farmhouse so he can have some elevation in case sniping is required to deal with this. Strike and BB move up on the UFO, using it as cover. Strike has a primed proximity grenade ready to be deployed near the entrance on the other side of the craft. BB draws his pistol since a rocket is not the preferred weapon at this range... Our squad advances closer to the door, using that grenade as insurance that the first thing out that door is toast. NKF reaches the roof and waits in a sniper position. Jman and Strike lay in wait for anything coming out that door.. SV pulls out another grenade. We hear them moving in there and we think there's about 4-5 of them still in the craft. BB moves to a postition on the other side of the craft and readies his rocket launcher. We're SO gonna flush them out with this! *BOOM!* Death screams are heard inside. Aliens are starting to panic and run around in terror. An alien runs out and our mine blasts him. He is them followed out by another alien that Jman guns down. Our high explosive solution to this mission has prevented us for recovering a sample of alien fuel, as well as destroying over half of the alien corpses. Seems there were 5 aliens in that saucer and BB got 3 of them with his rocket fire to the side of the hull. NKF is promoted to Captain. Silencer, Strike and Bomb Bloke make Sergeant. Surround the door, then next turn have someone closest to the door open it, and then shoot the ones we can, safely, then end turn, Rinse and repeat as ofter as needed. Our armaments arrive in Florida, now to just wait a few more days on the troops. And we manage to finally research the plasma pistol! Our troops arrive to garrison AmeriCom. UFO Detected! Die! And we get the clip researched. Now we can upgrade some of out laser pistols to these babies! First off, we're going to torture this engineer for info. See what he knows. Then, we'll do the same to the leader. We load up 3 of the plasma pistols and will issue them to anyone that isn't carrying a heavy weapon. Ah, another small! Let's see where she's at. Our American interceptor flies down to shoot it down. The UFO is downed somewhere in Chile. Just outside the range of our Eurasian transport. Do we start moving over some people from Eurasia to America (there's 8 of you total now with only 6 slots on the transport)? Or do we just send in the squad of rookies that just arrived at AmeriCom? Everything arrives and we load up the transport and take off for the South American jungles. We land, deploy smoke, and everyone takes cover in the undergrowth. A floater approaches from the craft and opens fire on one of the rookies, killing him. Jman moves up to spot the alien. NKF opens up on the floater with a 3 round burst, killing him. Thorondor spots an alien move up, fire, then retreat! Ahha! There you are. Mr. Bloke, do'em. The flies into some vegetation and explodes! Thorondor has spotted an alien! Jman! Kill him! Looks like another redshit bought it... Along with Thorondor...BB...Fire another one in! NKF moves into the burned out area of jungle to make sure that alien is dead. He spots a body on the ground, but the bastard gets up and runs away like a coward! The alien is dropped in a burst of AC auto fire! Meanwhile on the other side of the LZ, Jman clears around the UFO. NKF is finishing up his sweep. I think we can call it clear. We're hearing movement inside the craft. We lay in wait outside the UFO. Our numbers aren't large enough anymore to attempt storming it. The suspense is killing us...when suddenly! A floater wobbles out and blasts NKF in the chest! He retaliates with his laser pistol, dropping him! NKF is shot up bad, but he takes it like a man because he ain't got time to bleed. *BLAM!* Jman pops the other alien as he staggers out. Overall a good mission. NKF has been kicking major ass, but he's going to be sitting in sickbay for nearly 3 weeks! Time for a new base. This should be a good enough spot for us to get pretty much anywhere in the globe from 3 bases. We buy an old airfield in New Guinea for $750,000. And name the new base: SEACom. And we give it the usual start of a hangar, large radar and a store. More goodies arrive at the American base. Looks like torturing that little bastard got us some info on one of their craft. This is something we haven't seen before and we hope it never shows up. This is what they use for conducting their experiments on planetary fauna. Hrmmmmm, Psionics...interesting....I wonder if we discect that leader's brain... But first, we're going to learn where these folks are coming from. The general stores are built, and we order a living quarters. Excellent. Seems we have a forward operating base somewhere in our star system. Now we just need to track it down and cut the head off the snake. Time to rough up that leader and find out what the hell is going on. Oooooohhhhhh Yeeeahhh! We're going for the Psi Lab first! Our radar as picked up UFO #8! We launch out fighter from AmeriCom to deal with this incursion into our airspace. The aliens are chased into Canada. Small scout...Beginning to hate these things.... NKF still has 2 days left to recover, so we're going to place Jman in command of the attack on the saucer. Wooooooooooooo!!!! We land, one of our guys drops a smoke in the plane, an alien is facing our transport... Thorondor fires....and KILLS! We start to file out of the transport. Sarah sees an alien just past the front of the plane. Thorondor steps out of the craft and blast at the aliening....and DOESN'T DIE! Klaus comes out and we notice the huge hole in the roof of the saucer. Jman follows him out and pulls out his explosives. Ok! Let's do this! 0 seconds, this thing is gonna blow on contact with the ground! *Whish*...*BOOM!* Aliens die.. Another alien shows up to examine the corpse of his fallen comrade. Sarah caps him with her plasma pistol. Klaus breaches the UFO searching for survivors. Only a single plasma pistol remains.. We spot another alien, it then moves back out of sight. Thorondor moves up and spots him again. Paul opens up with his autocannon and kills the alien. Suddenly another alien comes into view! Thorondor reacts instantly and drops the alien! We then finish the sweep of the LZ and call in the salvage crew. 6 aliens dead, 0 X-com operatives dead. All in all, a great mission! We've finally had a Thorondor survive a mission. This clone even got 3 kills on his first time out! We sell our stuff for $750k, nice haul that time, guys. Meanwhile at the main base, we hire on 30 more engineers now that we have a larger workshop. Most of the civilians are probably dead, but if you see any humans alive out there, keeping them in that state is your top priority! Our transport lands next to a park in Brasilia. The ramp drops and an alien is spotted. Siegried takes a shot and hits the alien, but he doesn't drop. The floater turns and fires, hitting him. It's only a minor injury, Siegfried was lucky. Another burst drops the alien. Light injury, no fatal wounds. We smoke up and deploy. Siegfriend takes point and spots an alien in the gas station. Pete steps off the ramp and wastes'em! Siegfried turns to his left...ANOTHER ALIEN! Pete dispatches this one as well. We spot yet another one... Sgt Strike draws down on this vermin with his plasma pistol and fires...DEAD! Siegfried takes another step...time to back up, there's nobody that can kill this... Silencer spots one walking up into the kill zone. And promptly kills it! Siegfried moves back up, and sees the same pair still standing there....Strike fires..miss..Pete fires..miss..Thorondor fires...nada...SV fires a rocket...it hits a gas pump in the middle, but nothing dies.. Silencer sees yet another alien walk up. He fires, the alien is knocked to the ground unconcious. Way to go Siegfried! Another alien has been spotted by our point man! Silencer fires 6 shots, all miss! Pete opens up on him and unloads his gun..the fun way! We have spotted another alien that has been missing out on the fun! Silencer pops off 2 rounds, then reloads his weapon. He take another shot. It connects, but the bastard just won't die! SV squeezes the trigger on his rocket launcher. The rocket flies through the air..and hits a tree in the middle of the park. Way to go, squadleader! Strike nails him from across the park with his pistol! Thorondor fires..and misses as usual. Strike however, drops his 4th! Congrats! ..and his 5th! Another one over at the gas pumps... Finally! Siegfried takes a knee next to a pole..just in case. We've spotted another one, let's see what we can do about this! Ok, SV, you're aiming for the easy mac, got it? And he misses the building entirely! Strike unloads his pistol on the alien! As does Thorondor! Pete also makes an attempt, and fails miserably. I guess it's down to Siegfried to show us what he's got! DEAD! 2 more show up, sending poor Siegfried running! SV...how about actually aiming this time, ok? *SWOOOOOOOSH.....BOOOM!* We are successful, and we are in the positive. Downside is, every civilian bought it before we could get anywhere close to them. Excellent work men! Everyone is very happy with our performance this month and we've gotten a $685,000 bonus! We go into pawn shop in Dubai and unload our cache of weapons for a most awesome 2.5mill! Seems we've detected another UFO. We chase it around a bit and it escapes..our two missiles are wasted. We catch back up with it further south and take her down!
