Jman4117
They are genetically engineered killing machines. They are grow in tanks by the secret world government that is in league with the aliens...... They are from the same gene pool and therefore are given the same designation when spawned. Different gene pool, differnet spawning designation.
Alien-Bait
eh... if theyre geneticallt engineered killing machines, why do they get totally raped at the beginning that might explain the 40000 to hire and the 20000 salary
Jman4117
They are meant to loose to the aliens, but still be superior to the other earthlings.

NKF
It always gave me the impression that the soldiers were all anonymous and the names you see are just the ones that have been assigned to them just as a method of identifying them - what names they get called during their tour of duty, well, that's up to the commander. Thus the reign of Virgil Kemps and Astra Smillies (or whatever name combinations you often get) with different nationalities and states of hair loss tends to end very quick. - NKF
Alien-Bait
teh listorski chipovyuri chipovjason smithclaire smithigor pavlovlyumilla pavlovI still prefer to think that those are the original names so then, whenever you get a replacement with that name, you could call him/her inbred
NickAragua
It gets worse when you have about five or six bases, and each one has about two "Orski Alkaviades" in it. I usually wind up sticking some characters at the end of their names to signify what combat role they play (e.g. Orski Alkaviades HP = heavy weapons/psionics)
Bomb Bloke
Name double ups? I really gotta check my version number. I'm beginning to wonder if we're all playing the same game.
NickAragua
::shrug:: Maybe they weren't all named Orski. But there were certainly at least 6 or 7 "Alkaviades" in the last game I played. In any case, the names are (more or less) randomly generated, so chances are, sooner or later, you'll get a double up. It's fairly unlikely for both names (let's say that there's a total of about 40 names and 40 surnames, so you have something like 1/1600 chance of doubling up), but not astronomically unlikely. By the same token, if you hire more than 40 soldiers, you're guaranteed a double on a name or surname. Note: 40 is a number pulled out at random. XCom42
I always seem to get Rene and Paul Gauthier in X-Com. I once got Jose Cuervo in TFTD!!! I swear! It totally happened!!!
