Basic description on UFOpaedia

The values in UFOExtender.ini

  • Snap and Auto penalty distance is the distance, beyond which the shooter recieves 2% penalty (this cannot be changed) per tile to their firing accuracy. Important: the distance is measured in tiles*2.
  • Minimum Efficiency is the minimum (in x %) of the non-reduced firing accuracy you always get, no matter the reduction.
  • Cursor thresholds will graphically avert you when the current firing accuracy was reduced below x %.

An example (my preferred settings :))

[Range Based Accuracy]
Apply=1
Minimum Efficiency=20
Snap Penalty Distance=30
Auto Penalty Distance=2
Orange Cursor Threshold=95
Red Cursor Threshold=75

This means that an Auto shot will decrease its accuracy for every tile beyond the 1st one, Snap shot beyond the 15th one, Aimed shot never (cannot be changed). Firing accuracy can thus be reduced down to 20% of its original accuracy, never lower. Already a small reduction (95%) will avert me with a change of cursor colour. Losing more than 25% of original accuracy gives me red cursor, so I can stop to probably reevaluate the shot effectivity.

Hope it is clear. Ranged based accuracy is by far the best feature of Extender, for me. I cannot reccomend it enough. It makes sniper tactic much harder, it also gives you at least one reason to not use auto shot all the time (which any good matematician otherwise should do). I wish the original game had this mechanics naturally.

Thanks tonnes guys for the explanation.

And sorry about my post. I wanted to delete it but could not change the heading. So all I did was change the text to "over".

However I would have to trouble you guys on another question.

It may be because I have not played for a while. But I remember having things in both hands gives penalty to accuracy? and kneeling gives bonus to accuracy? No matter how I test it, I don't see the effects on the accuracy percentage next to the cursor.

Oh and yes I'm talkiing about extender. Maybe extender doesn't show THAT effect in writing?
