Space Voyager
I don't know what others think but I liked pictures more than movies. For me it is hard to watch several minutes of pure gameplay.
Jman4117
Well, I am doing the video in 1024x720 so I should be able to grab frames from it just as good as a screenshot should do. Main issue I had with the screenshotting was the extra time it took to take them and write about them before I forgot what happened. 15min usually takes about 90-120 when I'm stopping during the game to write up the text and things. So doing the recording then pausing to take the frames from the video and write the text should be a lot easier than doing it live.
Space Voyager
I'm not saying this is how you should be doing the AAR, the main objective is for you to have fun with it, too. If you don't feel like doing the write-up, don't. Perhaps others don't even agree with me and find movies better.
Jman4117
Next up. A 30 min mission where the Ionis System is cleared, this will be on youtube in two parts with probably 30-40 screenshots taken from the source video. Hopefully with timestamps so people can follow along if they want both.
Space Voyager
Do you always get first turn? Even when the enemies are attacking your base?

Space Voyager
Wow, that was a quick reply, faster than I was able to edit my post with: And was it necessary to take that mission on at some point or could you just ignore it indefinitely?
Jman4117
You have to take the "Destroy Cybrid CC" missions in order to advance to the next system and unlock more of the plot. You can put them off indefinitely and keep grinding away at other missions to make more money though if you want to expand your forces. Though that shouldn't really be an issue after the first one where you pretty much have to have the max number of allowed forces or you fail. You can probably go all the way through and beat the game with just a few hundred thousand more credits in forces more than you take to the first CC mission, but I'm going at a slower pace so that the plot gets unlocked and nothing gets skipped since you can get multiple promotions if you did the CCs one after the other and none of the plot at the end would be unlocked. Space Voyager
Great! https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/Smiley/xtreme.gif BTW, what is that little child doing in hercs?!
Jman4117
Apparently the latest tech bioderms only last a couple of years so they can't do the accelerated aging (or whatever you do to make a clone) without it dying. So, you get to have a fetal bioderm piloting your stuff. This should go over well with the general public, yes?
Space Voyager
Yeeeeesssss, I'm sure it will...
Jman4117
Crap, I got about 50min of playtime in this afternoon, roughly 4 missions and a promotion. But after I finished it all and saved my new game over the original so I can't go back and play it again, I discover that about 45min of it has no sound at all. I really need to keep 2 saves of everything it seems so I can have a backup in case something like this happens again. Next 2-3 installment will be just AAR screenshots unless anybody wants to see muted video as well
Space Voyager
He he he, happened a few times to me as well. I had no idea what happened... Anyway, am I still alive?!
Jman4117
Yes, you made it through the whole game actually. I just got everything filmed and have about an hour of video to upload over the next day or two. Two normal missions and the final base assault. Should be able to get the first up tonight and the next mission up by tomorrow night. The final I plan to do an AAR with so, probably a few more days to get it finished. Space Voyager
Ha, thanks for such an active role at the end! That was quite an echelon of hercs! How many did we end up having?! Watching the final battle I get the feeling Cybrids didn't stand a chance... But I like their ingenuity at the end! BTW, you always seem to just go through all the herc's arsenal when attacking a target. Are some weapons better at destroying certain targets or is there no real difference? Jman4117
Energy weapons usually work better against shields. Missiles and cannons are basically armor only. ELF and Needler weapons bypass shields and hit armor directly. Usually when I would fire weapons, I would go lasers first, which are heavy shield killers, then the NBWs which are balanced, then the missiles to finish.
