TFTD v2.0

I just started playing X-com again , been a while. I have an old CD of TFTD that is my uncles (very scratched lol) , wouldnt run if I installed it as c:\mps\tftd , had to use c:\tftd , it works now but what is this patch? I checked the readme that came with it but it pretty much just explained what it fixed and no real details on what to do , I assume you just unzip it and load a file from it? This old dos game seems to be glitchy to , I wasnt far into the game (2nd mission on a small touched down craft) and I killed 2 aliens , I end my turn and i'm done , I check the stats at the end and it says 4 dead aliens. I thought they grenaded themselves or somtin in thier ship , I had a good chuckle but then I checked my Triton when it got back and it was missing my Aqua Jet Vehicle and it hadnt died during the mission. Then I reload the mission cause I saved after I killed the 2 aliens and when i'm moving my Aqua Jet or maybe it was the Gas Cannon , it just cuts out and gives me the same mission completion screen. I hadnt even ended my turn or anything. I'm starting over and going on veteran this time , I was on beginner cause when I last played the game I sucked and had to save it turn by turn pretty much , I only saved during that 2nd mission cause I wanted to test a proximitey mine to see if it would blow up if one of my units went near it , it did and my Aqua Jet took no damage from it , it still had a full red health bar.

This ended up alot longer then I had planned but I didnt want to leave any holes , any feedback would be appreciated. (maybe this belongs in the support forum , I dunno but i'll post it here I guess)

No , all my units were outside , it was ending the mission as if I had killed all the aliens and its been doing this more now , when I went to a terror site mission , when I ended my turn it exited the mission without me clicking the dust off icon. I thought it was just a glitch at first but now i'm starting to think its from my scratched CD or somtin.

The way you describe what happened it seems to me that you're experiencing the 'Groundhog day' bug. Basically what happens is that the game gets stuck and you end up repeating the same results as your last mission ever and ever.

Did you kill 4 aliens on that first mission? And, when the game exits did you get a lot of green text flowing on the screen before the mission results appeared?

If that's the case then try to restart your computer and load your game mission. Sometimes it works for me. Otherwise you'll have to start a new game.

Your right Hobbs this sounds like the grondhog day bug. The 2.0 patch is suposed to fix this, it's posible you have a corrupt save game.. have you tried reloading from befor the mission and trying it again?

ps. I would recomend you patch to 2.1 just to fix the other resarch glitches.

depending on the style of install is whay files get extracted. harddrive isntalls inclue the .com file while cdrom uses a .bat file to start the game.

however I have repckeged the TFTD patches in to a zip file that you just extrace and copy over the top of the existing files to patch the game.

check out the link in This thread

Still having trouble , I downloaded that 2.1 patch and did what you said (atleast I think I did it right) and it messed up on my 3rd mission again , giving me the results of my 2nd mission after I ended my first turn. Think i'll just try and get the collectors edition , from what I can tell i'll prolly havta get it off ebay or somtin... looks like they dont make these older games anymore and even when I was hunting for the collectors edition I could only find it on auction type sites along with the single TFTD version.
