ExpertRookie
I tend to equip my soldiers with sonic rifles, an extra ammo each, two sonic pulsers, two particle disturbance grenades, one dye grenade (life saver!), and with ten soliders on my ship, I've already used up the 80-item limit!!! :-( I need the medikits too, perhaps another round of grenades.... Yes im aware i need strong soldiers to carry all these, but they get strong very quickly anyway! It would just be useful to remove the 80 item limit, instead of reducing my soliders to number of 6 to counteract this limit. So put simply, is it possible to remove the 80-item limit? Or at least increase it to 160-item perhaps(!)
NKF
Not without the source code, unfortunately. TFTD actually has a slighly expanded item table, but the amount of items you can load onto a sub is still fixed to 80 items (or rather items + tanks). You don't really need to have that many extra tools on board if you manage them wisely. A single medikit for example can be shared between two aquanauts. This works well for heal shots, but I do appreciate that there aren't enough stimulants to go around considering stun damage in TFTD is often off the chart thanks to the ridiculously powerful thermal shok bombs. Flares can be picked up and reused, so you could get away with 4 or even less, or make do with a few phosphor shells. Thermal tazers also don't have to be in great supply, 2 - 4 are often sufficient. MC Readers are one device that you can get away with only one or two on board. Grenades ... yes there's never enough room for more sonic pulsers. Though you can cover this shortage by gathering them off dead aliens during the battle. Aliens armed with drills carry up to 4 on their persons, since they don't know how to use the drills. Ammo probably needs to be reconsidered. It is a good idea to have a few spares on hand, but not everyone will need to have one each, as you do have a lot of rounds in a Blasta-Rifle (or Sonic Pistol). Aliens will also have sonic cannons that you can have some snipers scoop up and redeploy them against during the battle. Drills, when available, really help out with the ammo conservation. I know the 80 item limit is quite limiting on your preferred equipment setups, but on the bright side it does encourage better equipment management. - NKF
ExpertRookie
Fair point. MC Readers - I do know its function, but I never ever use it, i do not see how it offers me advantages. Best cut back on my usual equipment and deploy different tactics!
NKF
MC Readers are good for checking an alien's stats to see if it has time units to react against you (or if you really want to get down to crunching numbers and check its reaction and remaining TU percentage). Excellent when combined with the drills so that you know when it's safe to approach them. Of course, if you are actively using the MC Disrupter, then there's little use for the reader. - NKF
ExpertRookie
Omg, very valid point, why didnt I think of that! I've lost so many soldiers, "chancing" the fact the aliens wont respond with reaction fire!! I best add a MC reader to my equipment kit...
