Loading TFTD CD

Hi, All,

 

Please forgive me for asking,I know this isn't the forum to ask this in ,I

tried posting in the question section,and was told I needed to be a member

So,I'am stump, But here goes= I have the org,cd of tftd, It use to play great

on my old computer pentium 166 like a charm... Now,on my new computer

Pentium 4 160 with a cdplayer 52x max the game puts me through a cdspeed test then it take me to the sector where I choose English and then it crashes...Can any One ! help me,I love this game,I was never able to beat

it like Xcom 1, Those horses and brains Oh, the Lobstersmen always did me

in,it was fun! another point I loved playing at night! use to scare the hell out of me.

By ORG i'm asuming the DOS version

I dont actualy use the install program. I alwase use xcopy.

 

What OS are you running? the DOS ver does not play nice with XP or 2k

(I still have 98 on one box for that reason)

 

If you want to run it at a decent speed you will have to have the windows version of the game. If your interested in that there are still some places online (besides ebay) that you can get it for about $20 US.

For the insight,my OS is win 98 2nd edition which I failed to mention, I did'nt know about a windows version of the game,though.

I have a number of the old dos games, and for which reason I've never

upgraded to other OS's, Please,bear with me for I'am new at this (E-mails &

and Forums setups) My question is what's your Autoexec.bat & Config.sys

files setup look like,Perhaps,that will be able to help me play, aswell as my other games.

with win98 your lucky. you can try the hard drive installation.. their is a dir on the cd that has the old floppy version of the game in it and it installs to the hard drive. Then update the the v2 patch with the beta geoscape. then try again at playing.

 

If your geting a isuficant memory erro in tactical (as it requirs a little more conventional then geoscape. I have a config.sys trick to free up a lot.

 

your system will run the game way to fast.. you need a copy of at-slow or myslow to get a smooth slow down. moslo get's to choppy at the speeds your talking about.
