Merry Christmas 2009

Recommended Posts

Well, there's too much alcohol and food, it's snowing, children are throwing snowballs at me, no-one wants to be at work, the sun goes down on my lunch break, old people are slipping on ice and breaking hips, the entire family is feuding...yes, it's Christmas time once again.

Merry Christmas, one and all.

P.S. Flying cars in 2010 for certain.

Egad. I think I want to work for Nintendo when I grow up.

Anyway... It's summer here. No snowball fights for me. :)

Merry Christmas to everyone ;)

X-COM went to Mars this year but unfortunately didn't find any Elerium. 31 more years until the 2nd War starts :D

"You don't bring a gun to a snowball fight!" the crowd yelled. Maybe not, but when peeps are tossing snowballs at your hummer, standing in the middle of the road and disrupting traffic, I say go for it. :D

These people had nothing better to do than to go out on a snowy Saturday and waste time tossing snowballs. If they were looking for something to do, how about ringing a bell for the Salvation Army, or helping to shovel the snow from an elderly's sidewalk, or dishing up lunch for the homeless? That's where the time should be going. ;)

Oh come on! So now every kind of fun is a complete waste of time?

See, I have no issue with people having a snowball fight. Just don't toss snowballs at people who do not want to join in. It's common courtesy and nobody ever thinks about the innocent bystander getting nailed with a wet blob of snow in the face. Or your $100,000 Hummer being pelted with chunks of ice. Heck, I'd be pi$$ed too. I think that detective had incredible restraint though, if I were in his shoes, I might have used the gun. ;)

Take the fight out to the multitudes of open areas of Washington DC (the "mall" is a great example, plenty of room and probably little tourist activity on a snowday). I'm not a scrooge, I just don't think these people have enough common sense or restraint to keep a "fight" from getting out of control and spilling into the general populace. :D

Fun is a waste of time to me if it disrupts others. If peeps can't play nice, then they should find something constructive to do. :)

Hmmmmmmmmmm... Ok, I must have misunderstood.

I definitely agree that people should not involve those who don't want to in their activities. But I'm very pro-people-having-fun. :D

While I agree that people shouldn't make others (people or cars) part of their goofing, it's not strange there's war in the world when someone can actually pull a gun in a snowball fight (cop or other). It sends a terrible signal, and I'm fairly confident he'd loose his job if this happened in Norway. Than again, cops are only allowed to carry weapons under special circumstances in Norway, so... There's enough NRA nuts in the world, we really don't need them in the police.

That said, Merry Christmas to the people who prefer to fire virtual guns! :D

Also keep in mind that the media likes telling those tales that get the most interest, and they aren't always interested in putting in the voice of reason.

Snowballs packed tightly enough are very solid. Sure, kids tossing them around is one thing, but if someone older puts their mind to it they can dent cars with the things - you can't shrug that sort of thing off if it's directed at you! If I got out of a car to find people pelting snow at me, I'd be inclined to tell them in no uncertain terms to back off.

And then there's the matter of what happens when some punk decides to pack his snow around a rock... Not saying that happened, but it wouldn't surprise me if there's more to the story then was told.

Depends on the size of the rock. If it's small enough, the snow will just absorb most of the impact and slow the whole ball down enough that the rock is just extra weight.
