ApOcaLyPSe_1985
Hi all, Damn, my last visit sure was a long time ago! I'm glad to be back and i'm trying to be more active also, hehe Look what I found here: https://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f29586830 https://img47.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/2/9/7/7/shadow7882000-img600x450-1104481921153.jpghttps://img47.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/2/9/7/7/shadow7882000-img600x450-110448193254.jpghttps://img47.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/2/9/7/7/shadow7882000-img600x450-1104481942155.jpg It's the JAP version of X-COM: Enemy Unknown, and I was wondering if it would be worth the buy. I think all that's different is the language, but I noticed a different ufopaedia when looking at the pics...I've never played the PSX version of X-COM before, so you guys have to help me out wether it's different or not. Pete
D'ya remember that final fantasy film where the good gyus go roaming about and they have cool aircraft and stuff? Take a look at the above picture. X-COM inspired or what Back on topic, how much is it going for?
ApOcaLyPSe_1985
760 Yen, which is about $8.00, but there are still 2~3 days remaining so it could always rise. Overall the product seems to be in excellent shape. I'm thinking of buying it, just to have it in my collection. It's the only PSX game of the series ever released in Japan. TFTD PSX only got a European release. If it's exactly the same game only in a different language, then it may not be worth the buy. But then again, it's X-COM and the art is different too, hehe
Pete
Well... whoever gets it, can they do a scan of the new artwork for me to put on the site please
ApOcaLyPSe_1985
I made up my mind, i'm getting it. Thing is, i'm not the only bidder Wish me luck!
Hobbes
I am curious if the different graphics on the cover would apply also to tactical or only to the UFOPedia. Or it could also be the case that they are only used in the cover and the game is exactly the same. Good luck and let us know if you get it. Bomb Bloke
I reckon I could play the game without reading text by now... Well, so long as they don't go moving the buttons around on me. Ooh, I'd really like a copy of that... *drools*
Stun Grenade
yeh its a nice item alright... it might have godzilla in it, who knows!
ApOcaLyPSe_1985
well if he meant the game with translations then i can beat the game without reading anything also, unless the changed alot of the gfx ofcourse but i think stun meant the whole yahoo auction thing. Stun Grenade
nah its a unique item, how many ppl have a japanese ufo?? yeh exactly.. none of ya!
Bomb Bloke
There's an inventory screen image on the back of that case. I rotated the image and enlarged it, and the helmet is the same as our power suits; the rest of the armour looks a bit slimmer. But then again, the image quality is so low (for that iny segemnt, any way) that I couldn't really say it's different.

Zombie
It's the JAP version of X-COM: Enemy Unknown, and I was wondering if it would be worth the buy. I think all that's different is the language, but I noticed a different ufopaedia when looking at the pics...I've never played the PSX version of X-COM before, so you guys have to help me out wether it's different or not.I play both versions of the game (PSX and PC) often, so I might be able to help a bit. If you are unfamiliar with the PSX version, it has a completely different UFOPaedia than the PC version. That's normal. The graphics are different, as well as some of the language. Other than the UFOPaedia, the game looks and plays exactly the same as the PC version.
Bomb Bloke
What? Different graphics? You might like to consider capturing some images for the site, Zombie... I don't know if you have the equipment, though...
Zombie
Well, just the graphics (pictures) for the UFOPaedia are different. The rest of the game plays remarkably similar to the PC version. For example, the aliens, soldiers and civilians are drawn exactly the same in the tactical portion of the game. And, you're right about me not having the right equipment. I suspect I would need some video capturing hardware/software on my computer to get those "screenshots" from the PSX. Hmmm. I'll have to look research this further. Maybe I can pick something up cheap which will do the job.
Jman4117
Either a video capture card or if you have a digicam you "could" get semi decent images from the tv screen
Stun Grenade
u would need a Video Card with TV port in your PC i think and a special card that goes in the serial port in the PS1. Or you could just do a digital camera dump like JMan said..

ApOcaLyPSe_1985
You know, if the PSX versions of x-com do have different ufopedia graphics indeed then I guess this game will turn out to be the same, but just in Japanese Ah well, still worth much for a collector
