Which Version to Play?

Okay, we've established through the course of several threads that I've never played this game.

 

Now I'm intrigued and would like to give it a shot at some point, but which version of JA2 the game do I need to play? Wikipedia (I think it was) suggested that a slightly later version is infinitely harder almost to the point of being silly so I'm not sure I like the sound of that

I'd play Jagged Alliance 2 (not Wildfire and other expansions) if that's what you meant?

I've looked around, and I think you should be going for the Gold edition and have it pached to version 1.12

Well there was something about Unfinished Business too.

 

It's all Greek to me, but Wikipedia suggests that the Gold pack had some of the improvements from Unfinished Business included in the JA2 game itself, which presumably isn't the same as if you bought the two separately.

Any version knocking around today is the Gold one, I think. You can find it on GOG, or if you like real copy, find a Gold pack which includes JA2 and UB (like this one).
