Thorondor
https://www.technomag.co.zw/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/windows10.jpg :: And if eventually handing it all to 'Big Brother' was not enough of a latent concern for the future, it seems Microsoft is perfectly content to start getting your data right now, with Windows 10's preview version, if you aren't paying attention... Space Voyager
No, not voice input, camera and such. Data on hardware, sure.
silencer_pl
You are wrong here - capturing voices is for improving quality of Cortana for example - proper voice recognition. I found a perfect explanation for all those data storages but it's in mine language and I don't want to search it again and translate.
Thorondor
:: Have you a machine running Windows 7, 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1? Microsoft will offer you a free upgrade to Windows 10, Polygon reports. But, can you say subscription-based OS real fast? Maybe I'm just a conspiracy theorist. Space Voyager
silencer_pl
Subscription Windows is considered by Microsoft and there is nothing set yet. Normal distribution will be too. From what I've read there, free upgrade to W10 will be available for whole year. So you have 365 days to consider switching for free. Thorondor
PC Gamer's Wes Fenlon tries to make sense of the expected upgrade to Windows 10 in this article. silencer_pl
Don't be that pessimistic Microsoft ain't that bad at times. I only wonder about that free upgrade. I have W8.1 and for example after I upgrade and after a year if I will have to format HDD, will I have to buy W10 then or after upgrading I will get my own W10 key. Space Voyager
As far as I know, Win10 will be completely free for all owners of 7 and 8.
silencer_pl
It will be free for a year to upgrade, but that is not the case. I still don't know what happens after a year and I must perform clean install. I don't see any mention of getting Windows 10 ISO, so will I have to install W8.1 then and do I still can upgrade to W10? I would prefer to install W10 from the start then. silencer_pl
That is at least one of the worries taken care of, now if only they explain how would that clean install later look. Again W 7/8 => W10 or straight to W10. I would prefer access to W10 ISO.

NoXTheRoXStaR
Windows 10 being Automatic and Mandatory is a GOOD thing? Guess again. Windows & Nvidia conflicts. (7/25/2015) Page one. Page two. Space Voyager
Space Voyager
Nothing that is mandatorily automatic is good. NOTHING.
Kret
Honestly, I just don't understand MS mentality. The optional automatic update of drivers was fine, good for those users that are PC incompetent and the option for those more savvy to have it off as they would do it themselves. There's always going to be conflicts with uptades but if you're going to enforce them you just make matters so much worse. Zombie

Sunflash
Think I'd be more interested in the idea if it didn't try to handle the non-windows patches and updates(that is, there should be /no reason/ Windows is trying to handle Nivida drivers) and therefore being completely breakable. But hey, here's a prime example of 'wait a month or two before getting it'. Zombie

silencer_pl
Updating BIOS just for operating system is such a big idiocy I have ever read. You should be ashamed posting this. One should only update BIOS if the new version fixes some hardware issues not software. For example I have Z87 Sabertooth and I would only need to update my BIOS only if I had nothing to do with money and swap my Haswell CPU to Haswell-Refresh model since by default my BIOS does not support them.
