Knan
Love the small touches. - throwing knives bounce off brick walls, break windows, stick in wooden windowsills.- on fancy graphics settings, light/shadow takes even bullet holes into account (certainly muzzle flashes, fires, etc).- occasional richochets causing havoc- on loading a start-of-mission autosave, the map is kept, but the random encounter is regenerated - your start positions, enemies, equipment... Zombie
Funny thing, when I visited my first mission my scout mis-threw a Shuriken. I didn't know where it went until I saw a glimmer on the wall of a wooden shed. Well I'll be darned, it was stuck into the side. I like it when you shoot out a pole carrying the power lines and all these sparks come flying down. Neat! Not so neat is that a soldier standing underneath it will get injured. It's realistic though. Small things like a fire burning in the fireplace are neat too. Those areas are all too often overlooked by game designers. Another good one is when you shoot a barrel of petrol. It explodes of course, but sometimes it'll be on fire. After the fire dies, there is a bed of red-hot embers on the base of the barrel. Too bad those don't burn out though, they always are red. Still, it's a nice touch. I like that you can actually see the valves on the compressed gas cylinders. I like that you can shoot the cylinders and they will explode. I like it that the explosion will destroy part of a structure or injure anybody standing too close. The other day I was sniping an enemy. Well, the shot went through one enemy and injured him, then proceeded to strike another enemy who was standing right in back. Magic bullet! - Zombie
Kizmiaz
Love the small touches.Yeah, its a beatiful game actually. Paintings on the walls, tablecloths on tables.Flags billowing.Little puffs of smoke and bulletholes appearing on walls when you shoot at them. Not so aesthetically beatiful but a wonderful touch are the rundown toilets in some barracks. And the loos on some Russian random encounters. I mean, how many games actually had those "not so nice" necessities in them. The other day I was sniping an enemy. Well, the shot went through one enemy and injured him, then proceeded to strike another enemy who was standing right in back. Magic bullet! ;pThat happens quite often when the enemy is nice enough to line up in an orderly fashion.
FullAuto
One of my men, badly wounded and pinned down, was behind cover and just safe from enemy fire. The rest of my squad was engaging the enemy and trying to take the pressure off him, when he was killed by a ricochet. I cannot think of any other game where this has happened. Fantastic stuff.
