This time replay S2 I notice something:

 

Abala (the allied medic) is a great sniper. Holy bovine! He can shoot SVT40 2 AP quicker than the team sniper! His bio mentioned something about being a markman, so I guess that's one hidden characteristic for you. (both him and the sniper is highlevel, so you may not notice it at the beginning of the campaign)

 

Immediately replay the Axis campaign to check if there's some bigshot I missed too... So far nothing.

 

And did you notice at the beginning Allied got great machineguns and Rifles (ammo-wise) but Axis got great pistols. The Sauer is great for 2 missions, but no HMG so far while Allied got a big HMGs on a recruit (it's crappy, but it's there).

 

And Axis got lousy grenadiers. Three guys and nothing special about them.

The early Allied MGs are crap, though. IIRC you do get MGs earlier than with the Axis, but their magazines are so small you have to reload every other turn, unless you use single shot (and why on earth would you do that with an MG?).

 

The MG34 and 42, on the other hand, are excellent, and really worth wating for!

 

Hadn't noticed specialists having skills outside of their job, will watch more carefully in future.

The Axis medic Dani seem to have a fair hand with that frenchie HMG, the Chateaullaure or something. I almost never use it before since everyone used it soo badly, but she sure can shoot pretty good with it. Not great, mind you, but pretty good impression.

 

I thought the Finnish grenadier have some affinity with Mosin rifle (said nearly so in his bio) but no such luck. Oh well, a garand seem good enough. Beside, it's not like he wont have business enough just tossing grenades. here, have a pineapple nade!

 

EDIT: Dani is definitele a daft hand with Chateaullerault HMG. At long range with about 30-40% she still can hit her target with a short burst. (she's prone and has a familiarity of 6, attack a renegade soldier in katana encounter).

Even my Allied soldiers tend to end up with MG42s for the really rough missions. It's no contest.

Abala is a pretty good medic, that's for sure. Not bad with SMGs either. Haven't tried him as a sniper yet; may have to start throwing him in the mix a little more. His only drawback seems to be he gets injured... a lot. He can't hide very well either (at least he can't in my current game).

The Medics seem to be pretty good snipers, at least with a bit of training.
