Asleep Sectoids

Recommended Posts

Very possibly not... I mean we know they've engineered themselves beyond reproduction and they don't eat or drink the way we do any more. Maybe they use some kind of stasis chamber aat base or something strange, there are the cryo tubes on TFTD anyway...

All manner of creatures need rest. Even artificially engineered life forms. It's just that they may do it in a completely different manner than what we're accustomed to. They probably rest by playing their equivalent of cards in the command centre...

The cryo thingies in TFTD were more for keeping the adolescent aquatoids in them alive while they powered the crypt. Living batteries. Not rest in the normal sense. They're the sort that haven't got spoons.

No wait, aliens do have habitats and what have you. I also dinstinctly remember that the aliens in TFTD had these strange clam shaped thingies that are probably beds. Or am I confusing some UFO component for that? Oh well, there's plenty of fun to be had by staring at all the gidgets and gadgets in the colonies and guessing their apparent purpose.

Over the years and various forums I've been on, there have been worse ponderings. I mean, having big arguments over the gender of some aliens or sectoid pornography...

Drat, I'd almost forgotten that.

I think that the Sectoids, along with most of the species the aliens throw at humanity in X-Com Enemy Unknown were once independent races that were conqured by the aliens and subjected to genetic engineering experiments. There seem to be limits to what genetic engineering and surgery can acheicve with each alien race, so if the Sectoids ever slept when they were free, then they still do.

If the aliens were creating these species from scratch, then X-Com would have had to do battle with telepathic Mutons and Cryssalids, which would have been tricky.

Azrael sighs at the Genesis' hybrid Chryssalids he will never get to meet in battle
