rooftopsniper
How do you like killin aliens? My favorite way is to mind control them one at a time, walk em into there ship and let their buddies waste em. You?
PHOENIX
Take a Psi-amp, let them drop their crap gather them together, and if one of them has a blaster launcher, I'll take control over him (or her) and let them just kill em' with one shot. Thats the plan anyways. -PHOENIX
BreakMage
That's too easy.... MC them and use the inventory bug to have them drop everything... then... a Pistol.
The Demi-Godly One
I'm a very defensive player, and I have a lot of fun doing it . I usually just set up a good defensive position and wait for the enemies to walk into my trap. (Sometimes they don't so I have to move to and secure a new postion, slowly making my way to the enemy's ship )
Pumpkinhead
When I get bored, I have all my men stand around the Avenger and fire blaster bombs into the surrounding area until the entire map is leveled, killing any hiding ETs in the process... I've never been one to keep my collateral damage down "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." -- Ripley, Aliens
Jman4117
I personally like proximity grenades and laser pistols. After after my guys have secured the area around the UFO, I camp them out around the doors. Every body primes a nade, then one guy throws his by the door..................................... BOOM......BOOM.......BOOM.........BOOM...............BOOM........BOOM...............BOOM....BOOM.....................BOOM....BOOM........BOOM. JellyfishGreen
Randomly, by lobbing HE or grenades into the darkness and killing them before I even see them. Or shooting a cyberdisk or gas pump and "accidentally" catching other aliens in the chain reaction. I'm having fun lately by setting off explosions or rocketing diagonal walls before storming the UFO.
NKF
I like to defeat my enemies with finesse. The more spectacular the kill and the crazier the odds, the better. Luck, sadly, is required in great doses. While that's my preferred method, it's not necessarily my most practiced method. Let's flip over to the other side of the coin, where 'collateral damage' is as succinct as anything to describe my general approach to combat. - NKF
the_dead
Depending on the situation I either A) Blast everything in sight until there is nothing in sight.B) Swarm the enemy with numbers and blast them to piecesC) Take each area at a time, secure it, move on to nextD) Suicide Grenaders, just for the fun of it, it's great priming a grenade, running at the alien, letting it shoot you thinking it's clever, and then watching it die when your grenade goes off. Rattler
I usually fight with undermanned squads, so it tends to be more of a hit and run approach then any sorta all out fight. Shoot a few from a building, move to the building next door, and shoot some more. Every once in a while I plant gernades and set them to go off like 6 or 7 turns later and leave them in the building that I just vacated
M. Hoz
(Is that why you're called the dead?) I usually play with overmanned squads,so I send my men in pairs.Naturally, they die,and I lose.
the_dead
I could tell you why I'm called the_dead, but I can't be arsed and you probably don't care I'm not doing very much dying at the moment because I now have two super veterans who i can send out on missions with no more men and still win. I'll be gutted when my overconfidence gets them killed though.
Lonestar
I tend to spread my forces in groups of two. If an alien is spotted my troops will concentrate fire on that one alien. Even if they are on the other side of the map.

kai
I use abayence operatives (aka suicide squads) Find a Rookie with no attributes and give him 2 C4 charges (primed) and send him in to a UFO
Spart_acustard
Its a wonder how any of you get past the first mission with these tactics, you either blow them up or yourselves! ive always been fond of either sniping the enemy from long distance with adequately placed sharshooters. (long way around) OR Full on fire fight. Run 15 blokes into the middle of the field and advance as if it was the last battle, (usually ends in heavy casualties) :dontgetit:
EclipseDog
See my signature for one of my most favorite methods of pest control. :grins: But since there was only space for one there, here's a few more... (*) Psi-amp alien and herd it into a corner after making it drop its weapons using ops with no weaps on them. Once alien is cornered with nowhere to run set up your most pathetic rook with a pistol and have him or her stand slightly in front of the ring of other ops barracading the alien from escaping so there will be no friendly fire deaths. Then just let the alien's own pathetic terror movements set off reaction fire again and again until that pathetic pistol finally either kills it or knocks it out. Ah the exp gains... ah the fun of watching a truly green rook with pathetic accuracy wasting 5 clips of pistol ammo all in the name of reaction fire.... ah, yes, that is quite the boredom reliever until it too pales. (*) Fly-Suit or Tall building sniper with proximity grenades and a good bit of strength... hehe. It's quite fun to drop movement grenades from above down onto unsuspecting prey then watching them walk right into them and imitate stuck pigs and since you're up in the air obstacles aren't much of a problem. (*) Firing squad approach: Line up your entire squad next to each other and step one square per turn in a slow vice-like squeezing inward onto the alien horde. The moment an alien comes into view everyone reacts in a blizzard of fire. Of course they easily become prey to those area effect menaces... but after you play the game enough watching your entire squad be annihilated like that spices up the monotity. (*) Food Poisoning: On those chrysallith missions intentionally bring along one rook with no armor or items except for one high explosives charge kept primed at all times and let him be the bait for that alien pest. Zombies drop their weaps which means the grenade drops in the exact place the crys attacked. Ah the fun! Well not so funny when your other guys are still in the blast radius but I figure it in as them being potentially dead to that thing anyway and better to die in a fiery blast than as an alien slowly eats you out from within. But.. if you were asking me what was my most effective way of killing em without dying then I'd answer with saying, "Exploding star pattern: One man heads in each of the basic directions (N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW) and any leftover ops split up slightly behind them as reinforcements and to snipe aliens from the rear when possible saving my front line from wasting vital TUs." I have every op supplied with everything important rather than specialising much since it means that whatever happens he or she will be prepared to deal with it. Laser rifle (for unlimited ammo reasons), 1 prox, 1 high, 1 reg gren, 1 smoke, 1 medikit, armor, 1 stun rod, and later on in scenario I add in 1 high end weap for massive dmg when laser rifle just isn't quite enough anymore.
