Mod compatibility with localized versions ?

Since its just 1 month to go for afterlight i thought it would be a good time for a AS restart,

however i failed to bring any of the "alien assault" "advanced assault" challenge mods etc. to work.

 

I tryd using a 1.1 and a 1.2 game version without sucess. Did anyone manage to get one of those mods to work with a localized version?

 

*Note to myself: Never buy localized game versions anymore*
