Windzor
I used the link that is provided here that leads to Fileplanet. I really dont like Fileplanet heh. I clicked the link there for free download, and a small window pops up telling me Fileplanet wants to install thier IGN download manager. I didnt want to do that and the only other option was to click the link for the public queue(sp?). That link opens a small wondow, where the button to hit to DL the game is too far down the screen, there is no way to scroll down in that window they provide, and there is no way to expand that window either. So I give up and try thier download manager. As I expected its complete junk. After installing it, it tells me I have no room on my HD to download the game ( I have over 50 gigs of free space ). So, any other options to getting the game? Thanks for the help, Windzor. P.S. I just found this site today and you all rock. I have been wanting for a long time to play the old X-com game again. Read this site and the forum brought back a lot of memories heh. P.S.S Ok, I just figured out that I have to subscribe to FilePlanet in order to get the game. PFFT, did I say I really dont like Fileplanet? heh
Bomb Bloke
Fileplanet only requires subscriptions for some files, most notably the larger ones. UFO and Terror From The Deep were removed from their site some time ago. Whenever this issue comes up I check to see if they've been replaced... I can't find a download link for UFO, so could you tell me which one you're using? I did, however, find a link for TFTD. I'm not sure if it works however. Like you, I get told I have insufficient disk space... Apparently the file is over 15EB. There aren't many people with drives that big. Re the small window lacking a scroll bar, in cases such as those you can usually try selecting some text and dragging your mouse downwards. The window will auto-scroll to allow you to select more. The third mouse button (usually built into your mouse wheel) can sometimes also be used to compensate for lack of scroll bars.
Windzor
I tried 2 links from this site. https://www.fileplanet.com/151115/download/...ce-Gold-Edition and this one https://www.fileplanet.com/151115/150000/fi...ce-Gold-Edition neither one worked. Was this what you were asking for? Windzor The first link came from "Down the X-Com memory lane..." and the second from "Retro Review - UFO: Enemy Unknown"
Bomb Bloke
Yup, that's the stuff. The first link you gave asked me to login. After dredging up my long lost password, it gave me the usual list of public servers to choose from. Again, up popped the download manager, requesting the upper limit of storage space that an NTFS drive can handle. I un-installed the download manager, then tried the link again. Up came a pop-up asking to install it, I hit cancel, and was offered a link to the public queues. I clicked it, only to see a large page with no scroll bars (as you mentioned). Using the third mouse button to scroll around, I found this to be nothing more then "https://www.fileplanet.com". I went back to check the link, and sure enough, that's where it led. After clicking around a bit more, it seems to me that the files simply aren't there. All that's left is some broken database entries. You can't navigate to these download pages on FilePlanet, the only way to view them is via direct links. So it looks like the files still count as "removed", I'm afraid. Windzor
Thanks for checking up on it. Did I mention that I really dont like FilePlanet? hehe. This isnt the first time I have had issues with them. Windzor
Pete
The problem is that whilst the pages exist, the files don't. Going to their X-COM Series section, you'll see that when you click on either UFO entry is says "displaying 1 of 0 files". https://www.fileplanet.com/13791/0/section/X-COM-Series I do remember checking a couple of months back and they'd been taken down for... unknown... reasons.
