Siphon
I've played online games for about 5 years now, before that I played just about everything... And recently I quit WoW (shitty game) and I was looking for something "new" to play. And I stumbled upon this game, which I used to watch my older brother play when I was a kid, and I myself played it when he was away from the computer.... And I tell you... This game rocks my world in so many ways. It is so much better than 99% of the games that are made nowadays. I mean the detail in this game... omg, you really need to be able to think to beat this game... And I love the thing that you need to capture LIVE aliens to be able to research some things. So many games are too easy... I've played this game all weekend, and I played it alot when I was younger. I still have trouble completing the game at a beginner level, but I still enjoy starting over, because the game is so well-made and the story of the game is entertaining (my knowledge of the english language was quite poor when I was younger so I didn't really understand the value of researching Alien Origin). In short, I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME! I think I "researched an alive Deep One before that magnetic thing... Restart, here I come P.S. Sucks that I already have full Sonic researches done and I've had extreme luck in this game (6th month and only met Tasoth/Calcinite once each (Aquatoids and Gill Men ftw). Just started finding alien artifact sites. Also, is it possible to be MC'd in the 1st stage of an alien artifact raid, by mobs on the 2nd stage?Cause I kept losing units to MC while entering the transporter to stage two. But I had uncovered all parts of the first stage and killed everything. I lost three Aquanauts to the MCs while I ran to the transporter. ... Why am I still talking? Siphon
To follow the end of my previous post: I'm uncertain if I have researched a living Deep One, but I think I have, but if I check my Ufopedia, it shows only autopsies and "Gill Man" and "Aquatoid" does this mean I haven't researched a living Deep One? I need to know if I should restart from 0 or if I can keep going... Done alot of missions and have been very lucky so far.
NKF
If you can get the live entry for a Deep-One (carrying a PWT cannon, for some peculiar reason), then you'll have researched it. If not, then you won't have it. If you are no longer getting land missions (sea port, island, ship, X-Com base attacks) where Gill-Men appear as the primary race, then you are going to be playing for a very long time before you see your next Deep-One - they'll reappear again with the mixed crew land missions. I suggest restarting and make it your #1 priority to capture a live sample within the first few game months. Remember to research the corpse first to get plastic aqua armour, and also be sure to research Ion Beam Accelerators as well. This will help avoid a possible game crippling research bug. On MC and shipping lane missions: No, each section of the shipping lane mission is a self confined mission. Any MC units you found on this mission will be on this map. If you were fighting Gillmen - who don't normally exhibit MC qualities - then you may have encountered some of their higher ranking officers that do have MC skill. You can relax your MC defenses around Lobstermen-only missions, as they have no MC skill to speak of. - NKF
Siphon
What is needed to research to get Ion Beam Accelerators ? Haven't seen it yet.
NKF
They should appear for research the moment you get some in storage. They can only normally be found on intact USOs - shot down USOs have them all destroyed, and I don't seem to recall ever collecting the two other IBA variants from a perfect raid on the second half of alien colonies (you'll note that they are powered with zrbite - that's the little bar at the bottom of the object). Even in intact USOs, they're the panelled box thingy with the little zrbite bar at the bottom. These are easy to destroy as they tend to explode violently when shot. The large scout USOs have these near the entrance, funnily enough. You should be able to get one easily from a supply ship if you've got any that regularly land at nearby colonies, or if you manage to quickly land beside a USO that's landed on the seabed. - NKF
