Slaughter
I'm implementing a new design into a site I built some time ago, and playing with design again reminded me why I HATE Internet Explorer! Nothing works! I have things working perfectly in Firefox and Opera, but IE insists on making trouble for me constantly. It displays dropdown menus UNDER other DIV elements, it can't use pure CSS menus, it ignores some of my CSS to amuse itself and so on. Does Microsoft enjoy making life hard for web designers? Has anyone given IE7 a spin to see if it is better? Anyway, just needed to tell everyone that I HATE Internet Exploder! I was quite pleased when Netrape died some years ago, but I fear that'll not happen to IE anytime soon...
Praetoris
I hear you mate, I've been designing sites myself and IE has always been the last one to function properly, if at all. To answer your question: IE7 does have some better (or "working") CSS support, among some other things, but I'd guess we can't count on it being up to date for that long. If a new and neat function of some sort comes up soon I'm sure IE will be the last to have it implemented.
uriaheep
Join the club. I constantly have to revise great ideas due to the fact that most people out there insist on using IE.
Matri
And this comes as a surprise... how?
Kernel
Just re-direct everyone that uses IE to a page that says "Sorry this website won't work on toytown browsers like IE. Go get yourself a real browser like FireFox."
Pete
Fortunately I've not done a design yet where I haven't been able to get it to work on IE and proper browsers like FF and Opera. It's sometimes a pain when you've only been testing it in FF, then when you look at IE it's all gone a bit wrong, but tehre's ALWAYS a way round it. I'd personally rather not have to spend the extra hours making a site work on a half-assed browser that unfortunately 75% of internet users user (I think it was 75% last time I checked ). Bomb Bloke
Yes, I've missed the boat on this one, but I still feel it worth pointing out that the other browsers don't follow the standards either.
Slaughter
Might be, but at least CSS work with them...
