daredevil
I'm not sure if anyone else has encountered this one, as I couldn't seem to find any threads covering it. During a terror mission, during the first phase of alien movement, I see an explosion in an unexplored area (fog of war) and then the game freezes up with the blacked out map screen (GUI is still visble but nothing happens when clicked). Any thoughts on how to get around this?
Bomb Bloke
Well, if you have a recent savegame on the geoscape, you could go back to that. Most likely the terror mission will pop up on the same date, and with any luck it won't crash this time around. If you don't have a recent save, then I'm not sure what to do. Disarming the aliens might do the job. Easiest way to pull this off is to load up the terror mission that's crashing, then abort. Back on the geoscape, let the clock run until a small USO turns up, blast it, then send in the same strike team you sent to the terror site. Once landed, save to a new slot, and then quit out. You'll noitce in the game folder there is one subfolder for each save game: copy the file "obpos.dat" from the new save slot to the terror mission save slot, reload that mission, and see if the same thing happens. Might wanna backup the terror mission save first though.
daredevil
Thanks for the advice. I think I might just repeat the 12 days prior to the mission. Just a little base management that I didn't want to do over. Sounds like the easiest solution.
rupertuz
You might also want to try saving more often. I usually use six or seven slots and so far haven't run into a situation which I couldn't get around somehow, nor do I get corrupted save game slots. Most important of my saves are probably the 'BC' aka ~before combat, 'AC' ~after combat, and two additional slots during battle, switching between them each turn.
