Of course after about a minute or so it hit me that the word alien has the rough meaning of a foreigner. This link was shown to me on IRC and nobody could believe it, until I explained it to them.

 

On a similar note, a few years ago I had a book report for my English class, so I chose to read The Lord of the Rings in English. And during the report I mentioned that the language feels somewhat different than the modern English, and that I had learned some new words. And as an example I chose the word queer and said that it meant strange. Let me point out that at the time I didn't know it had another meaning, i thought the word was clear. Anyway, the teacher said something like: "Really?" with an odd look.

Perhaps the aliens were masquerading as illegal immigrants from Central America so that they could search for their crashed weather balloon without arousing suspicion.
