Total War: Eras Released!

Total War: Eras, the deluxe Total War collection from Creative Assembly, is unleashed on the world today. Those of you that have the $60 to spend on it will get:

Shogun: Total War with Mongol Invasion Expansion Pack

Medieval: Total War with Viking Invasion Expansion Pack

Rome: Total War with Barbarian Invasion and Alexander Expansion Packs

There's also a mess of pretty but pointless extras like art booklets, posters, and soundtracks. I imagine most people will be buying it for the games and expansions.

If you do plan on buying the Eras package or you already have Rome: Total War, you owe it to yourself to check out the Napoleonic Total War 2 mod from the Lordz Modding Collective. It's looking very impressive so far, possibly even more impressive than the original game. If you don't believe me, download the first NTW2 Trailer from our Files Section.

I've been meaning to check out these games for some time. No excuses left now I guess... :drink:

I found them somewhat dissapointing as the games seem limited when playing against the AI. Great for a couple of games but not good enough to spend hard earned beer tokens on for this new pack. Saying that, the Napoleonic twist looks fabulous, I may have to take a look at that.

Now, some of the music in those games are pretty good... Divinitus from Rome:TW comes to mind...

So I might be tempted.

That makes sense.

I'm usually leery of fancy extras with a game, though. When I got UFO: Aftershock from Cenega, I was pleasantly surprised to see a poster, playing cards, comic book, and other things packaged with the game. They're all sitting untouched in the box since then because they have nothing to do with playing the game. What good are they to me other than a brief intial positive impression? But I guess a soundtrack that you'll actually listen to is another story. And manuals. I love big, elaborate, well-written manuals.

In related news, NWS Online has Eras on sale for $54.99. I'm not sure about their international shipping policies, but you can always email them and work something out. They also said they will iclude a free game with the purchase if you mention that you heard about the deal at The Wargamer.
