Noooooo! I just tried the link, and it's not on File Planet anymore! This sux, I've been thinking about playing the game again (I've still got the original DOS twin-pack EFO-EU and TFTD versions) but they don't work in Windows 2000... What am I going to do to remove this XCOM itch?

Does anyone know of any legal downloads (only 1 items on e-bat, currently at US$64!)

Sorry, the FilePlanet one was the closest to legit we knew of, and no others are allowed here at this time. :)

I recommend DosBox. It'll allow you to run your Dos versions under 2K.

:) Ah well, thanks anyway Bomb Bloke. I've from Vic btw, nice to see a fellow Aussie who thinks well of X-COM - EU ;)

I'll find DosBox and give it a go.

Cheers,

James

The DOSBox site is still down, but you can grab a copy from the files section...its not the newest build, but it works great for Xcom and it features the nifty HQ2x renderer that is NOT part of the basic standard build...

The HQ renderer is by far the best 'smoother' I've found...give it a shot and see what you think, you can always turn it off if you don't like it :)

Aah, that's right, someone uploaded that, didn't they?

I've been avoiding DosBox so far in favour of real old hardware, but I've some experience with HQ2X. I'm doubting even my modern system could render a game at any acceptable speed that way though. :)
