Pete
Check this out, though you'd best sit down first and have a lie down after! https://www.paulkidby.co.uk/news/index.html Finally! Not the book I would have gone for first, but nonetheless, FINALLY! Note to self: Finish off own Discworld fansite sharpish!!
The Veteran
Hey that's awesome :o I love the discworld series but I reckon the oldies are still the goodies... I loved the initial Rincewind books, they were more personal than most of the others and some of the v. recent ones are not personal favourites... A movie is damn cool though! Never read this particular book either so when it happens it'll be a real surprise
Pete
I just also read on the same site that Sam Raimi (Evil Dead Trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy etc) is set to direct "The Wee Free Men" which it one of the "Younger Reader" books. Bearing in mind the books that follow on are also supposed to be for younger readers, I found them quite enjoyable all the same. I didn't see any dumbing down for kids or any shying away from scary or violent stuff - just a good read. Good stuff Mr P!
FullAuto
Excellent stuff! Raimi's horror/comedy style is perfect for the Nac Mac Feegles.
Accounting Troll
Finally we will know the correct pronounciation of Teatime! Hogfather is one of my favourite Discworld stories, partly because of the somewhat direct way Susan has when it comes to dealing with a child who complains about a bogeyman hiding under his bed
Pete
Hogfather's the one I keep forgetting the plot to. Don't know why but when I read them all in a row, my brain seems to be unable to remember some of the later ones. My brain hurts Betcha £100 Bruce Campbell gets a cameo role as a Nac Mac Feegle in Wee Free Men
Accounting Troll
How about Tom Cruise? He is the right height after all...
FullAuto
Mel Gibson! He's already played a Scottish midget once.

Bomb Bloke
It's "Teh-Ah-Tim-Eh". Tiatimeh. It'll be interesting to see if the characters look anything like they do in the animated version of Soul Music. Those wizards don't look fat enough.
Pete
Depends which one's which. If you spot an elderly skinny one, it's the Bursar
Bomb Bloke
I thought they were all elderly... And I'm not just saying that because I'm barely out of my teens.
Accounting Troll
I think Ponder Stibbons is in his early to mid twenties at the time of Hogfather, Rincewind is probably in his late forties, but everybody else is somewhat elderly. Pity they didn't pick a story with some nice troll characters though.
NKF
I was going to make a comment on how the animated version of Soul Music looked terrible (i.e. a few of character designs looked off), but then again I've always found Cosgrove Hall to be better known for witty dialogue than their animation (Danger Mouse, for example). I did like it, along with the few additions that it added that weren't in the book. But my comment got too wordy so I had to remove it. Anyway... I'm not terribly fussed with the book chosen for the movie - Hogfather was a good book. There are so many books and series in the Discworld series that it's hard to say where to begin. Although, it would've been fun to start off with Moving Pictures. - NKF
Pete
I agree with you there NKF - but Moving Pictures would definitely have to be a big-screen adaptation and not a "TV Drama" as this one seems to be being billed as. Joss Ackland as Ridcully though? That could work... never really thought about him in the role The young guy off BBC's Hustle whose name I can't remember - should be great as Teatime too.
