Slaughter
Congrats to Finland for being the only decent band...EVER to win the Eurovision Song Contest! It warms my metal heart to see Hard Rock Halleljuha win!
Crazy Gringo
I had a feeling that they would win ever since they were badmouthed in the various papers here in Denmark. And so they did. Congratz Lordi!it just goes to show that provoactive and innovative behaviour can get you ahead in life. Instead of the 'I am cooking soup of the same old chicken' kind of people as you could say that Denmark did what their 'standard' Eurovision Song Contest number. Accounting Troll
I don't think the Eurovision Song Contest has ever been this much fun. It appears that not everybody in Finland approved of their entry link, so I'm wondering what they're making of its victory. Just because a group of axe swinging trolls won, everybody starts sulking. And what were the Lithuanians on when they selected their entry? I supposed they admired the self confidence of a song whose lyrics were basically "We're going to win Eurovision" over and over again. It was even worse than the British entry and the Country and Western song from, erm... Germany. And does anybody know what was going on here with the Serbian entry in the semi final? Tactical voting in the Eurovision contest? Surely not! For me, the best part is the BBC coverage of the voting. It's difficult to keep a straight face when Terry Wogan predicts that Andorra will give Spain 12 points moments before they do, and then we get a Baltic country that maintains the tradition of giving its points to its neighbours. But at least Ireland usually gives us a few votes out of pity EDIT: Did anybody else notice that the Dutch presenter whe announced his country's votes seemed to be more than a little bit drunk? Gimli
People actually watch Eurosong? Isn't it obvious that it's almost always neighbours voting for neighbours? Our song was incredibly stupid, even for Eurosong. You should hear the translation. Well actually, it would make more sense to people if they knew that it's actually a folklore type song, the kind which people in villages used to sing a few hundred years ago. As such it would have the "national heritage" value, but it's definitely not for Eurosong. Heck people here didn't even realize the meaning behind the song, how could anyone else. But yeah, Eurosong - waste of time.
Accounting Troll
The trouble with having a traditional folksong as an entry is that a lot of other countries did the same thing, so the voters can't tell the difference between them.
Slaughter
People actually watch Eurosong? ...Not normally. But last year Norway had a good entry for the first time ever, so I had to take a look. This year Finland had a FANTASTIC entry, so that definitively made it worth watching. Besides, I had been drinking 3 of 4 days this week, and had to prepare E3 interviews... Praetoris
And what were the Lithuanians on when they selected their entry? I supposed they admired the self confidence of a song whose lyrics were basically "We're going to win Eurovision" over and over again.I believe they were simply mocking the whole competition ..and I kinda liked it. May I whine at Carola (swedish entry) while we're at it? - Congrats to finland!
