Just was watching the Return of the Jedi again, and, I don't know, the final battle between Luke and Darth Vader was so... damn cool, it wasn't as flashy and well coreographed as the one between Anakin and Obi-Wan in Episode III, but it just had something, I love it! So I was wondering, which do you think is the *best* duel in all the six movies? not just counting coreography and SFX, which I think no one can deny are most impressive in the new trilogy, especially Episode III.

To me the best duels of them all are the one between Darth Vader and Luke in The Return of the Jedi and the one between Obi-Wan and Anakin at the end of Episode III (I've seen the one in Ep.III dozens of times, sometimes I fire the DVD up just to watch that fight...).

If I had to choose, I'd probably pick the one between Anakin and Obi-Wan, it just... rocks! the music, the feeling, can't get enough of it :P what about yours?

(I'm actually very indecise between Anakin vs Obi-Wan and Luke vs Darth Vader :P )

Obi-Wan, Qui-Gonn & Darth Maul everytime, because it was the ONLY decent thing about Episode 1. With the possible exception of the pod race :P

Anakin and Obi-Wan v Darth Maul because Ray Park (Darth Maul) really can do all that stuff.

...aside from getting chopped in two of course - he's too good for that.

It always makes me wonder why they killed him in Episode I - he would have been the perfect bad guy to have right up until Episode III.

He was an apprentice and therefore had to die due to advancing the plot. Bloody script writers. He would have kicked Anakins behind anytime and it would have been Darth Maul we would have as the bad guy in the rest of the dual trilogy.

There is one duel that was left out I noticed.....Master Yoda aka. the green energizer bunny from Duracell and Count Dookuu aka. the black cockatoo.

That was my favourite scenes in the Attack of the Clones. Yoda shouldn't have saved Anakin and Obi-Wan he should just have beaten Dookuu into a bloody pulp.

What I don't understand is why the bad guys don't just do the moves in the computer games (which are also in the films) - when someone's getting on your nerves, step back and do a Force Grip on them, lift them up in the air, let go and do a Force Push which sends them halfway across the map.

It's all about bloody honour and lightsabers only... Just kick ass if you've got the freakin' powers!

Well there's either going to be a TV series which wil bomb badly (as far as quality is concerned) next to Battlestar Galactica and Stargate etc, or George will make the 7th in the trilogy... err... the first in the third trilogy... or a prequel trilogy... something like that :P

I did hear rumour that a TV show might be set in the Old Republic, which would be nice because then there might be a chance of no Jar Jar...

Anyway, for fans of Star Wars (anmd unhappy fans even!), if you haven;t checked out the site I've written about in this article over at TLO, it's worth a few laughs: https://www.thelastoutpost.co.uk/the-web/a-long-time-ago

Real Jedi don't bunny hop. They stand, fight, and kick whenever necissary. Thus, all Jedi-to-Jedi battles that predate the formation of the imperial order suck, as George Lucas decided to attach jump-cables to all of his fighters.

Rather, the two best lightsaber battles must either be Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader in A New Hope, as it is the original lightsaber duel--complete with Jungian references, or the Luke vs. Darth Vader battle from The Empire Strikes Back. Why? Because pretty-boy Luke becomes an amputee.

The battle in Return of the Jedi is also notable, however, the inclusion of Ewoks made the entire movie sour. Well, only the Ewok parts. The bikini-Leia was pretty sweet.

---

You forgot to add Obi-Wan vs. General Grievous. Although it doesn't really count, as the asthmatic droid isn't a Jedi, and would thus inevitably cut off his own head if Obi-Wan couldn't. It was less of a battle, more of waiting for the inevitable--during a battle.

I had to choose the Empire Strikes Back one because it's the first one I can actually remember watching in the theater (I was 6 at the time) and the drama has stuck with me all these years. "OMG, his hand!, his father?" It was a big day for me, you understand.

The Darth Maul one is pretty awesomesauce too, but the overall crapitude of that movie colors it for me.
