jeff303
I am currently trying to play the original X-Com in Linux (I choose not to use Windows for various reasons). I own a legally purchased copy of the collector's edition, which as you know includes a Windows CE version of X-Com. Unfortunately, after spending two days trying to get it to work, with XcomUtil using Cedega/Linux, I still have not been successful. I'm fairly certain I could play the DOS version of the game using DosBox without problems. However, I do not own this version of the game. What I'm asking is if anyone would be willing to provide me with the DOS version of the game. Note this does NOT amount to a piracy request. I own complete and legal versions of the games (and can provide evidence of this if necessary). Anyone who wishes to discuss this with me further, please send me a PM. Thanks for your time. Krabjuice
Why you shouldn't be asking this Yes, I am aware this is 3 days late.
NKF
The post doesn't specifically say anything about downloading the game electronically - but one cannot rule that out. It's a pity, if you were living in New Zealand I could've easily mailed a copy. I've got 3 surplus 'budget' Red-Ant/$old Out Software copies of the dos version of UFO (Got them $5 each - whee!). 1.4 cd version - although that can be easily rectified. They were lying on the shelves for months on end, so I saved half of them from their gloomy fate. Why? Don't know. I think my idea at the time was to to send them to Pete as prizes for some contest or other but never got round to it. Or maybe it was to lure in potential new-X-Com-fan candidates. - NKF
Krabjuice
NKF, you don't mind shipping to Canada, do you?
Zombie
How about the United States? I'm willing to pay dearly for an original DOS version for testing purposes. *waves cash in front of NKF* - Zombie
NKF
I suppose I could. It's not like they're doing anything but gathering dust on my shelf. If the three of you wouldn't mind PM-ing me an address I can ship the copies to, I'll see what I can do. Shipping costs for a dvd case shouldn't be too hefty, I'd imagine. I'd be willing to trade for a fresh copy of TFTD if anyone has a spare - but don't feel that you're obliged to do so. I just no longer have an unaltered original that I can revert to, and trying to find a budget rerelease of it is almost impossible. - NKF
