Kernel
Well, to be fair Rockstar did say that GTA: San Andreas was the last of the trilogy (in the GTA 3 world) and that their next game was going to be totaly different. I guess this is what they meant. Crazy Gringo
Rockstar Games has been subjected to the Take Two Interactive economical restructuring that seems to be the fab in the gaming world as Atari is doing the same. The expected result of this restructuring should end up with the Take Two Interactives portfolio consisting of Rockstar Games North and 2K Games where Rockstar Games North will be the 'flagship' with all the cutting edge stuff and more 'specialized' games while 2K Games will be the 'follower' with games that contain proven technology and that appeal to the masses. Some of the other studios/game makers that there was under the Take Two Interactive umbrella like Illusion Softworks and Gathering Developers are due to be absorbed into these two new companies.Or at least that is what Gamespy News reported a while back. Kernel
Take Two Interactive also aquired Firaxis games last year. Firaxis is home to Sid Meyer the creator of the Civilization Series of games. They must be pretty high up on Take Two's list of developers.
