Slaughter
Hi folks This is the last semester of my economics bachelor, and I have to pick a bachelor assignment. Since I have a computer science bachelor, and a slight interest in games , I wish to make it gaming related. Then again, it is a bachelor assignment in economics, so it has to be related to that (micro and macro, marketing, logistics and so on). Since I have some connections developer and publisher connections, I though I'd write something related to publishing. Things like "Turn-based games - are they worth it?" could be potential assignments I guess. Anyway, if you have a good idea, please share
Pete
I'd say you're onto an intersting idea there. I'm sure Nival and ALTAR could give some good info on how hard it is to get that type of game marketed certainly, and an in-depth look into it might turn up some eally interesting info. Bomb Bloke
I'm not really sure about university related matters, having never looked into them, but would Computer Graphics/Design be an option? It's closely related to marketing, as well as game design.
Thorondor
@Olav: I think your initial proposition is very interesting and it would be a captivating subject for you to follow up on (as well as an original assignment for an economics bachelor). Therefore I'd merely suggest the following rephrasing of the topic: "Development and Publishing - Turn-based games in the 21st Century" :: It would sure help if you could get a hold of someone from Firaxis or Stardock as well (maybe by using the LI network?). And maybe it's just me, but I think people will be playing turn-based games for many a century to come yet... B)
Slaughter
Thanks Thorondor, that sounds much better . I think I might be able to get in touch with both developers you mention, along with several others. @BB: Well, might. Thing is that I've had no computer related subjects in Uni, so it can't be too far removed from economics. Also, I suck at design
Accounting Troll
How about including something on the economics of a software development company being based in the former Soviet Union and it's satellites instead of Western Europe and America? It could be quite topical as some people in Western Europe have raised concerns that the recent accession of several Eastern European countries into the EU is causing job losses in Western Europe as companies relocate. Or "Professional game reviewers: is it more economical to bribe them or have them assassinated?"
