Renaming Units.

Hey guys,

 

I remember in the X-Com games we were able to change the names of our units, soldiers etc. I was wondering if anyone knows if this can be done in UFO Aftershock?

 

Either as a normal function of the game or with a mod tool or something?

You can change the names of your soldiers, I think you need to click either on the Training tab or the Career tab in the Equipment screen. You'll see the soldier's name so just edit it.

To an extent - you can change the soldiers' nicks, but not their birth names.

 

When on the Squad/Equipment screen, select the 'Career' tab at the top right hand corner. Having selected it, you'll immediately see a 'text box' with the soldier's current nick. Just type in a name of your choice and click the 'Change nick' button.

 

That will change the name that appears on a soldier's portrait during tactical but, as stated, not their full name as displayed on the Squad/Equipment screen.

I think someone has worked on a completely new set of birth names, but not the ability to customize in game. From what I read, it seems to only work with new games.
