The Demi-Godly One

The collectors edition of UFO converted the original synthesiser music into separate midi files. You can play those on any file player that supports midi files. As midi files, the quality of the music really depends on your sound card's synthesiser instrument table. Different soundcards tend to use slightly different instruments, and this can either make or break the music. Personally, I prefer the ones used in the dos version of the game. The battlescape music (with headphones and the bass cranked up) is actually rather interesting (until you get tired of it). :tank:

If you've got the collectors edition, just look under the 'sounds' directory. Or if you don't, well, you could try the download section of this site. If they aren't there, just go to the links page and pop by XCommand and poke around the file section(s).

Or, go get yourself a copy of the Playstation UFO. The music tracks (except for the introduction/ending music) are on cd tracks which you can play on any cd player. It's even got a second battlescape music sequence. Not really much of an improvement, but it certainly breaks the monotony.
