The Demi-Godly One
I've made several map edits to X-com, trying to remake the game. I'm planning to remake the aliens too. But what I'm asking is, does anyone know where an X-com weapons editor is? One where I can make details like the pistol have 6 ammunition?(Just an example) So does anyone know a LINK to a site with a X-com weapon editor? NKF
You can use the TFTD weapons editor that comes with the program called XC2ME2 to edit the weapon stats. It should be listed under the editors on this site. It's a TFTD editor, but it works with UFO since the obdata.dat file (the file where all the equipment information is stored) for both games are almost identical apart from the actual stats that are stored. However, XC2ME2 doesn't modify every aspect of the object, like whether it's a grenade/blaster/one-handed, what graphics it uses, the dimensions and weight of the object, etc. But it's sufficient for editing basic weapon stats like what three types of ammunition clips it takes, its accuracy and TU costs. If you're a little more adventurous and have Windows 95 or 98, I'd recommend using MS-Edit and opening the obdata.dat file in binary mode at 68 columns. You'd still have to decode what all the bytes mean, but it does give you complete control over the weapons and any other object that can be picked up like alien corpses and elerium. You could possibly turn alien corpses into grenades if you wanted -- but I seriously doubt that would be a very bright idea. Now if only I had a more complete list of what every byte does per object entry, and a little more knowledge on how to open and save files in C/C++, I'd probably have made one for personal use by now. Goodness knows I like to tinker with the weapons from time to time to test some silly idea out every once in a while. - NKF
Bagirov
Well, I think object editor v0.3 written by J. Chan is the better choice, because you can modify more aspects of the weapons like dimensions, weight etc.Send me an email if you are interested. The Demi-Godly One
A graphics editor would also be nice...
Munkeylord
hehe, i have two really good weapon editors, both of them edit all the normal stuff like tu's and ammo type and capacity. the other lets you do a little more like make smoke grenade rounds or guided bullets and such. though the guided bullets only work with the HE option. i'll send them both to you
Bagirov
@ The Demi-Godly One for editing weapons-, units- and terrain graphics I prefer pck_view. MCD_edit is an editor which lets you modify terrain attributes. Also very usefull. I will send you both. Bagirov

Bagirov
Very cool editor ! Ok, I needed a little trick to run it, but it seems that it must be very easy to work with that program. Bagirov
