As anyone had something truly weird happen in a game? For me I got 3 such stories.

1st story involves my main guy shooting a sectoid 9!! times with a heavy plasma before it died. By all accounts the thing should be dead on the first shot, and if not then the 2nd for sure. But after 8 shots it was still standing. Weird uh? Kinda funny actually cause I can just see it. Guy in flying PA auto shoots a sectoid, it falls. He turns around kills another sectoid then as he turns to check on the first sectoid he finds out it's still alive and walking about. X-Com agent slowly walks up to it all the while shooting it, till finnally on the 9th shot it dies

And in another game I had a guy get blaster bombed(he missed his first waypoint and ended up hitting himself) and was out for over a year. Like close to 400days.

And in a TFTD game a Tasoth went berserk and shot 1 of my guys 15 times(he emptied his sonic rifle into her) in it's 1 turn. You can barly shoot a sonic rifle 3 times in 1 turn, how the heck did he shoot 15 times? She was left with 13 fatal wounds and 10 health but lived to fight again.

Now are all of these glitches?

There's plenty of weird things that can happen.

As for that lucky sectoid -- hey, it's possible. I had a soldier in power armour get hit head on with a blaster bomb and survive with more than half his health and no critical wounds. In TFTD, the first time I tested my Mag. Ion Armour, I think my leading soldier got his by three successive disrupter pulse launcher and was still standing. Couldn't do this at other times -- but it was incredible.

On the other hand, because of a rounding error or somesuch, the bullet velocities sometimes cause your shots to hit the ground tile rather than the alien itself, and this normally looks like its hitting the alien. Had this a couple of time with the floaters.

For your soldiers time in the infirmary, I don't know how exactly its calculated, but it appears to be based on how much health you have and how much health you lost on that mission. A brand new rookie who'd lost 15 health points might get to stay anywhere between 1 - 17 days, but a heavily souped up soldier (with abnormally high stats -- say an edited trooper), can sometimes end up spending a third of a year in the medical bay. that's what I've observed so far. There certainly is a random element in there somewhere.

When a unit goes berserk, their current TUs are sometimes increased to 255 or so, but the firing cost of the gun does not change as it's based on the units maximum TUs rather than their current TUs. This lets them fire off quite a lot of shots on that turn.

But still, it couldn't have emptied its entire rifle with 255 TUs. Perhaps the rifle was half empty at the time?

Shots hitting the ground tile seems more plausable then a super sectoid.

No the Tasoth was the first alien I saw on the mission, rounded the nose of my Trident and there he was, fired a pot shot at him hit the end turn button and then all hell breaks lose.

I find units ducking are harder to hit, so much so that even if you hit the right tile you don't always hit the unit in it. However, aliens can't duck, to my knowledge.

I had a guy go berserk with a laser rifle. Those things DON'T run out of ammo. He fired for ages at the civilian next to him. sad thing was, it took him five shots to hit the target... :tank:

Another guy spun in circle whilst firing. The scenary looked very speckled by the time he was done. :P

Technically, the aliens can kneel -- the game just doesn't know how to make them kneel. It's also because they haven't any 'kneeling leg' sprites. :tank:

(I mean, if they do end up kneeling, everything below the waist will just vanish. Same thing happens if a flying unit is made to use the sprite set of an alien that doesn't fly .)
