Preda
Back on-topic, I have started exploiting my new drivers, and I obtained thi picture of a Reticulan, from close-up. I don't know about you, but I LOVE the lighting: https://img222.imageshack.us/img222/4649/screenshot44df.th.jpg

Martian base commander
I must say my lighting is on par with that.Nice shot of the Grey though, nicely detailed.I will see if I can get a similar shot to that. What drivers are we talking about here anyhow?,Radeon or Nvidia.I have my latest Catalyst drivers and I noticed an improvement in AS too. My card is Radeon X800 Pro. Preda
You must turn 'shaders' ON, Riley. . Also, I use 'Very High' resolution textures, so... Also, that picture is from a speech, right after the Reticulan Rescue mission, you can't get the camera that close to them. About the drivers, I have a Radeon 9600 with THE latest drivers, but I sacrifice gamespeed and fps for that quality. Here's another shot, of a WG Power Armour. A fine example of what this wonderful new engine can do. It's almost as good as what I've seen in HL2. https://img455.imageshack.us/img455/9451/wargotpowerarmour0pa.th.jpg

Crazy Gringo
Hello Kiddies! This is Crazy Gringo with something that I call '3% chance of being splattered with dead alien brain matter'(If any spoilers are present then....) 3% chance of being splattered with dead alien brain matter The pic also show my current squad of meanies and their toys of destruction. It consists of:Recon/Sniper teamTwo snipers with MSG90's with 7.62 mm explosive ammoOne recon with doppler scanner and a nasty Desert Eagle with AP ammo Fire team one and two1 HK33 with 5.56 mm flechette ammo1 M60E3 with 7.62 mm explosive ammo Recon/Snipers are for that LONG range kick in the rear of an enemy strolling out in the open. Fire teams are for house cleaning (gotta get rid of the BUGS) and fast reaction protection for the Recon/Sniper team (especially flatsters and such). Martian base commander
Ive always had Shaders switched on Preda, and I have all the high res textures switched on also, with a sacrifice of SOME performance admittedly, but its still very playable.Dont' forget I have 16X Anisotropic Filtering switced on all the time on my card,so I guess I could squeeze more juice out of my card if I WANTED,but as you said quality is better than speed...most times. A nice shot of the power armour mind you,I like the sort of translucent shine on its knee textures. I need to get a similar shot myself,as we both have the same brand of card it would be interesting to see if any effects differ in either shot. Do you use anti aliasing at all?I personally refrain if I can help it as the 1024 resolution counters this in most games.AA can be a REALLY nasty resource hog in games, however,I just bought Call Of Duty 2 today, and I turned on AA with ALL effects and the game perfoms admirably.COD2 looks bleedin incredible I might add too
Preda
A nice shot of the power armour mind you,I like the sort of translucent shine on its knee textures.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is an additive chrome layer, the cream of all good models. Do you use anti aliasing at all?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. It messes up everything. I still have no Sg research. I'm going nuts I'm even considering starting over from the point when I blew up the mothership. *slams head to desk* here's some comparison pics I got:OLD:1, 2NEW:1,
Crazy Gringo
Here is something that I call: Air Morelman The bugger was shot with a supped up HK-33 on burst fire and was hit critically twice which send the bugger flying into the tree and the picture is taken when it is on it's way down to the ground after hitting the tree. That's good game physics for ya....But the Silent Storm physics engine is still the best I have seen to date....

Martian base commander
Hey Gringo, wonder where that Moralman learned to cartwheel like that?,hes' rather agile for a lump of maggot infested meat isnt he? I reckon he just won the lottery and couldnt contain his excitement Funny shot.
Martian base commander
Just a few random shots of some of my lads in action tonight. And I mentioned to Preda that I would try and get 1 or 2 of a Wargot too, just for a graphics comparison.A shame that ImageShack doesnt' show a perfect replica of the shot when it was took,as my card is FAR better than what these images show (Radeon X800 PRO). Anyway, onward. This first shot is just me wanting to show off my SLOWLY developing 4-man Commando unit, yes 4 man Notice the light armour and muzzle suppressors?,for obvious reasons these guys are going to rely on speed and stealth. They will eventually have access to night vision and other high tech detection goodies. These 4 guys will possess a wide array of skills, and all 4 will have basic medical skills too, negating the need for a dedicated Medic. One will specialize in heavy weapons and demolitions, and a sniper is a distinct possibility too. https://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=commando13rp.jpg Here we have my SMGer having great fun with a Flatster https://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=commando24ub.jpg He just couldnt' bear not finishing it off with his Combat Knife though https://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=commando30zq.jpg The trademark of all Commandos is?...the ambush!I actually lured a Moralman into this area by firing decoy shots near my position https://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=commando49kb.jpg Here we have possibly the most important squad in my game,my Heavy Infantry (squad B),who are tasked with taking on the Cultists and Wargots. They have undergone many changes in their build up in the past, but I think im becoming satisfied with these guys now. This ones for Preda too,as he likes to show off Wargots.I thought the lighting on the Wargot gun was pretty good, but the legs look a bit blurred. My 3 Cyborg gunners are WELL spaced apart on the front line here, but luckily I encountered no power suits on this mission, the humans may have finished it off before I could get into position, but I doubt that, they would have been steamrollered by it.https://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=heavinf18nj.jpg I think Preda may like this one,as it shows a Wargot in full detail. The Wargot instantly collapsed into that concrete pillar from a single blast from a Plasma Gun https://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=heavinf26cq.jpgI quite like that one. This one just goes to show that my recent experiment with energy weapons on Wargots has proved highly successful. The laser burnt right into its neck https://img518.imageshack.us/my.php?image=las18so.jpg This one is fantastic,a truly dynamic shot of my LAW rocket in mid flight!https://img518.imageshack.us/my.php?image=law14cm.jpg And...the end result. He survived this first shot to my surprise https://img518.imageshack.us/my.php?image=law29fm.jpgMagnificent that one.Preda must agree with me that the Wargot detail is excellent in this one. He didnt' survive this one though.https://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=law34jh.jpg And last but not least, the victory mugshot.Just like a still from a Nam movie eh? https://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mugshot1nt.jpg Hope you liked some of em. Preda
Indeed these are quite impressive, Riley, although I'm surprised you didn't notice that RPG's are next to useless in this game. At the moment I'm looking for an alternative, due to my overly-prolonged stagnation.
Crazy Gringo
Okay! Here something that I call: Reticulan Shooting GalleryMy snipers blasted everything that there was detected with their sonic sniper rifles and let the recovery team have some fun which you can see in this: Reticulan Quick Draw ContestI saw this rocket wielding critter get up from the ground. So I had a little quick draw contest where my squaddies already pointed their MG's at the critters little head from behind. And on a sidenote: 'Need a door? Blast the wall with a sonic gun!'

Preda
Well, then, here's a little something I call eating point-blank missle on bread: https://img398.imageshack.us/img398/9587/screenshot67cf.th.jpg By the way, I think my game was screwed since before I started the assault on the mothership, and seen as though I have no saves since before then, I think I'll start a new game. Markavian
Impressive stuff so far people! This screenshot was from the first time I encountered a crashed alien space ship, I managed to sneak the camera up in close behind the characters (something I'd like to see for every unit) :https://www.mkv25.net/showcase/ufoam_spacecraft.jpg This second one is when I found a highway, I thought the crouch spot was perfect for my sniper:https://www.mkv25.net/showcase/ufoas_sniperhighway.jpg
Crazy Gringo
The battle rages on! After I had kicked the cultist invasion force out of Spain. I decided to teach them a lesson. So attacked them in Africa. The map from My first cultist base assault After I had mopped up the cultists on Africas west coast I decided to mop up cyborgs on the east coast. Here a couple of moments from that fray. I've said it once and I'll say it again: DO NOT eat lead while climbing a ladder. He hit ground with a big *THUD!*. The reticulans ain't the only ones to hold quick draw contests:Cyborg Quick Draw Contest And: Guess what? He lost! Oh well! Off to mop up the world!
