Martian base commander
Cheers for the recognition CG I have used Flashbangs before, not in this particular game, but I will say that they do what they say on the cannister, they flash and they blind the enemy, which DOES in fact give you a few seconds tactical surprise,INDOORS! you remember in my commando mission where I was outside waiting for noise?,well that was a perfect opportunity to flash the area then storm in with guns blazing.Same goes for when I was rushing the staircase, what I would have given for a FB there! They become less effective in open areas naturally because there is more room for the enemy to maneuver and evade things. As I now have EIGHT operational divisions in my game (for various missions) they are all at differing levels, ranging from lev5s right through to some lev10s.My Heavy Infantry division (Cultist invasion missions) is not as high as the rest mainly because I have not took the fight to the Cult...just yet Just for the record these divisions are as follows: 1st Marine Division (mutant missions) these are my most experienced troops so far.2nd Marine Div (Reticulan missions)Heavy Inf Div (Cultist invasion)1st Mechanized Div (Wargot defense)2nd Mech Div ""3rd Mech Div ""Commando Div (night and rescue/capture missions)Science Div (alien containment) Playing this way gives me a LOT of flexibility in my game, and also allows me to conduct many simultaneous missions as and when other divisions may become injured or eliminated. In all honesty I have only lost around 2 or 3 people in my game so far,and I intend to preserve them even longer.Relying on 1 squad as most people seem to do doesnt give you that amount of flexibility, and you may be waiting a long time to attack while your injured are in sick bay. And as for your Cultist teleportation?knowing you it was definitely an AIRborne incident! Keep pounding away mate.
Martian base commander
Just thought I would show a recent encounter with a WPA inside a UFO.Through scores of missions against the WG's I think i'm starting to get the hang of kicking the s##t out of these brutes now Main key is to show no fear and confront them head on,converge and hit them with your hardest guns,WITH AP rounds of course.Ideally I would like to use energy weapons against the WGs,but their lack of range compared to machine guns is a serious setback. As soon as i'm able I will then use HE rounds against the WGs.Just think of them as being like tanks, and in some of the fiercest tank battles of WWII some tanks actually survived against AP shells because the shell would pass right through the tank leaving its occupants unscathed, whereas against HE shells it would detonate inside destroying everything!Oh,I lost my Rocketeer on this mission due to a bad move on my part and not due to the WGs ,but as my relationship with the Cyborgs is at its peak I suffer no problems in aqquiring high quality Cyborgs https://img137.imageshack.us/my.php?image=19fv2.jpg See yer soon. Crazy Gringo
I finally got around to getting the Wargot transmitter after fending off all those Wargot/Cultist attacks.[https://www.lcfgames.co.uk/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=12&pos=29And so it began[/url]After assuming defensive positions around the pod the squad quickly encountered some cultists looking for trouble and quickly gave them trouble. The buddy system in actionAfter taking out the enemy in the outlying buildings the squad concentrated it's attention on the heavily fortified main structure.Deploying the 'dispendable' member of the squad as bait dragged some cultists out of their stronghold.A drones retreatAfter that it was a matter of applying as much firepower into the cultists path as possible.Rocket awayWith some results to begin with.Boom! And one by one the cultist assault team fell to pieces with my beautiful ambush.Death of a CultistEven if they tried. Those damn Cultist Psionic SnipersAfter the ambush the squad advanced on the stronghold never letting their guard down.Squad tactics in actionEventually they found these two sniper rats.Found 2 sniper ratsWho was about to learn a lesson in fire by phosphorous grenade.Hot Cultist! And to help them in learning their last lesson in their lives one of them got paralysed with a paralyzer dart.Burn them outOn a sidenote here is the item in question needed to complete this mission. The item in questionBeing guarded by a pesky MG-carrying cultist psionic who met it's end with some fine shooting.Precision shootingAfter that the squad nuked the interior of the stronghold with phosphorous grenade to burn out last of the cultists.Burning out the ratsTaking no chances the breaching team gathered before storming inside throwing flash bangs all the way.Breaching team gathered. But the firestorm had cleared the path to the transmitter which quickly was picked up and brought back to the pod.Whereafter the squad quickly left the scene leaving any wouldbe survivors wondering what the heck went on. Martian base commander
Nice little story there Gringo Well,i'll respond by posting a handful of treats myself, and I have one that you will find VERY interesting! The shots have nothing to do with tactics this time, rather,me just wanting to show off my bloody lethal 1st Mech Div in action! This first shot shows a WG trying to implement what he learned in flying class,up and up he soared into the clouds like an eagle https://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=17jh2.jpgNow for the first time I encountered a rather COOL looking Cultist, brandishing an age-old Samurai sword that allegedly had its roots in Feudal Japan! A cybernetic Ninja! https://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=25ip.jpgAs usual,my men would take no chances in letting this threat hack them into Suishi and so pummeled him into the ground!https://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=37fs.jpgNow Gringo,I advise you to fetch a clean pair of underpants and a handkerchief, because your throne is MINE now! prepare to meet the much anticipated AIR WARGOT POWER ARMOUR! Now I admit, not as high as your legendary AWG of yonder, but this is all about mass and weight now,and this collossal brute was sent hurtling through the air before smashing into a nearby electric pylon! https://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=46nn.jpgBeat that one matey! PS: Good to see you implementing real tactics in your game in the form of the 'buddy system',so often used by modern armies today,"you cover me and i'll cover you",I do it all the time, especially if I have to cover large areas of open ground.I hope UFOAL will emphasize on even greater tactical opportunities. Crazy Gringo
Nice screenshots, Paul. Really up close and personal. Have you messing around with the camera controls? The spread eagle Wargot....What send him flying? And the same goes for the Flying WPA....If you want the throne you can have it....Even if it's a old and worn out beercase made of wood (It had some 50 beer in it back when I was a happy drinker). Martian base commander
Cheers Gringo. Nope, I havent been messing around with the camera,I dont even know if you can.Sometimes you can zoom right in at certain angles, and being on elevated terrain sometimes seems to do it too.The flying WG I think was sent flying by the potency of the combined MG fire I hit it with. You liked the WPA shot then? ,I was sceptical as to whether those things would become airborne lol. Thanks for the beercase too! I love a good ol' drink myself, just like my Viking counterparts up in Scandinavia *fills his mead horn in a toast to the gods of old*
Crazy Gringo
According to SG-1 mythology the old norse gods are in fact sectoid/Reticulan/Grey looking creatures. So you just saluted the Greys. Oh well on with the progress report.Only a few hours after the cultists got the rear kicked seriously their partners in crime the Wargots tried to invade Southafrica.Since the puny humans living there begged for our help the team gladly geared up and got ready to kick over some walking sardine cans.Shortly after touching down and enroute to help out the puny humans the group encountered a group of Wargots bearing down on them. So Colt send a rocket their way.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/42/42/9/33/98/2852933980028687379cYnLXi_th.jpgNot to much effect....Except giving one of the Wargots a serious headache.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/44/44/1/9/63/2745109630028687379NQuRZP_th.jpgAfter moping up Colt's mess the group continued enroute towards the puny humans and shortly thereafter unleashed hell upon the Wargots.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/52/52/4/12/53/2460412530028687379DUCaXO_th.jpgColt tried again to make amends for the mess he caused earlier.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/46/46/9/5/66/2711905660028687379okkULP_th.jpgBut even with the apparent direct hit the Wargots still stood upright.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/42/42/1/80/56/2876180560028687379lISbrU_th.jpgEven with the succesful mission in the bag some flaws in the groups tactics came to the light of day.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/59/59/5/46/45/2759546450028687379dRTIZu_th.jpg -Using a M60 with AP ammo was simply no match for the much more advanced Gauss weapons against the improved Wargots. Even the energybased weapons did bigger damage. Most give Plasma weapons another chance.-The rocket launcher with HE ammo is only somewhat effective against the improved Wargots(The picture speaks for itself. But not to the point of One-Shot-One-Kill. I will try the phosphourous rocket grenade next time the Wargots come knocking.-The drone is a bit slow and too ineffective with it's laser MG. Even if still can mob the floor with it, but only due to it's superiour armor and stamina.-Superiour armor does matter....I saw the puny humans in their standard medium armor getting ripped to pieces from a Wargot Plasma rifle on autofire. The same weapon only tickled one of the team with her Duralloy powershielded medium armor.
Martian base commander
Just a couple of shots here, nothing too elaborate. First one shows my Science Div. on yet ANOTHER mission to capture a Mutant,in the form of a walking pussbag...the Morelman. My Psionic projected her crippling blast of Psionic energy into the back of the creature, instantly incapacitating it.The pink beam looks fantastic I think, proof of her ever increasing mental powers https://img473.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11xs1.jpgThe last one is from a Mechanized squad, engaging a WPA.I dont really know what can withstand my Mech Divisions at this point, they really are becoming very powerful https://img71.imageshack.us/my.php?image=26wh2.jpgJust on a side note, what do some of you think to using WG weapons?,like the WG Plasma Rifle.I tried it the other night and was torn between thinking it may be useful or it may prove to be nothing more than a bloody hinderance.Range was poor,so was accuracy, but the damage was pretty good

Crazy Gringo
Nice name there, formerlyknownasP_Riley_K/Blueblood. Are you of blue blood heritage or do the Greys have blue blood? It looks like that my former album Earth 2.0 has gone missing in action at my webhosting service. Oh well....Let's start out with a Reticulan being blown up/away by a rocket....https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/58/58/6/50/37/2380650370028687379knCnZQ_th.jpg I did finally encounter those dang Starghosts....My psionicist detected the first one which is why the picture is in 'Psivision'https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/36/37/9/42/21/2912942210028687379dFItas_th.jpghttps://thumb19.webshots.com/t/38/39/7/86/65/2248786650028687379ILjOlk_th.jpgLet me just tell you that these are not your Cenega stock Starghosts. They are the improved ones as in the weapons rebalance mod. And they are a royal pain in the lower backside. Especially the SG defenders.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/42/42/4/7/23/2910407230028687379AteBnI_th.jpgIn this first encounter I resorted to taking up defensive positions on the first floor on the building and blasting away at at the Starghosts that tried to rush my teams positon. After a prolonged firefight I was victoriuous. In more recent mission I made a tactical blunder and got encircled by those dang Wargots. Even with things in my favour they did cause quite a bother. Especially when that WPA showed up.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/60/60/6/49/57/2692649570028687379fzolkH_th.jpgMy Cyborg and drone was rushed it and made short work of it with a Plasma shotgun and Laser MG fire.https://thumb19.webshots.com/t/48/49/6/81/63/2840681630028687379OpPsaQ_th.jpg On an endnote I would like to thank those nice Reticulans that brought those nice Warp rifles with them into battle which could make my battles with the Starghosts less of a lifethreating endeavor. Preda
*comes out of the shadows* Greetings, chaps, it is I. I have been away for quite a while, so I thought I might just drop in and say hello. I have been kept away from UFO by mainly 2 things: school, and X3 Reunion. In 2 weeks, school will be over, so I will join you shortly in virtual conversation. As for X3, it is a game that I highly reccomend to both of you, as I am 100% certain you will enjoy it. Good day, and good play.

Martian base commander
Thanks Gringo. The Blue bloods eh...well after reading some VERY bizarre things over the last few years I have come to understand that the Bluebloods are a Royal/elite lineage yes (not me),and there is EVEN a theory that the Bluebloods may in fact have reptilian origins, due to their imperialistic/aggressive natures.Generally speaking, anyone who is aggressive, imperialistic, elitist, ect ect,may be classed as a Blueblood.Vlad the Impaler,Erszebet Bathory, and Queen Victoria are said to be true Bluebloods, and may EVEN have some other lineage/s too,if these new-age theories today are correct, yet I dont favour the thought of anyone calling my queen an Iguana! hehe. And so,I thought it apt for my new name,as I am instinctively aggressive and want to conquer this bloody world!,and im quite fond of reptiles too Oh Slaughter,Freelancer the game where you travel space looking for jobs and stuff? yeah,a great game,I have it,yet the game was SO huge I stopped playing it a while ago, however,no doubt I will play it again!Another great space game is The Jupiter Incident too, which I have, all about battling against alien forces in the depths of space, and ultimately using their craft and weapons against them, and there is pirates to contend with too
Martian base commander
Well, what better way to start than with a huge explosion deep underground?.Shame it was against my little friends the Rets, still its do or die in this war! I like this shot.https://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=17am4.jpgNext one shows my IRV FINALLY working,or so it seems. :smile:Performance in this mode was still quite choppy however https://img102.imageshack.us/my.php?image=23xo.jpgNow we move on to my Science Division,on yet another, you got it,alien containment mission *sigh* The team is slowly growing in power, with the addition of a few nice gadgets. Here they set up and scan the distance for any movement.Even though the light is dim,it should favour me with my Psionics,as they can pierce the gloom with their telepathic abilities,no matter how dark it may be.https://img102.imageshack.us/my.php?image=39xf.jpgI order my Scout to make a stealthy approach for the building, and to try and get to the roof for a perfect spying position. The target is in there somewhere.https://img125.imageshack.us/my.php?image=49jv.jpgNo sooner has she neared the building she immediately senses a creature within. She continues on with her task.https://img125.imageshack.us/my.php?image=51wy1.jpgOn the roof she gets to use her new scanner, and straight away detects the target!https://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=69my.jpgThe squad cautiously move forward and make contact with a Grey.https://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=73in.jpgHe is instantly dispatched with 2 painful laser bolts to the throat https://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=87nc.jpgThe squad attempt to 'dig in' when another target appears close by.https://img129.imageshack.us/my.php?image=95ux.jpgA SUPERGREY! Now from past experience these beings appear quite resistant to these lasers,so I order the team to try and render it imobile first.https://img63.imageshack.us/my.php?image=107py1.jpgMy Psionic fires her paralysis ray at the SG,and without actually freezing it DOES in fact knock it to the floor, where it was quickly killed.https://img162.imageshack.us/my.php?image=112il1.jpgInevitably the mission came to a quick end after this small skirmish. Not my best,I know hehe. Just for the record the Cultists have been pushed right down into the tip of S.Africa in my game, where they have been confined for weeks now,just...roaming the wastes searching for water! Martian base commander
Evening all. Well I definitely have some goodies to show off tonight.I just made it into the Sonic Era and am on the verge of developing some cutting-edge Hyper weapons! I'll begin the evening with a fine display of just how mean my 1st Mechanized Division is beginning to look, and I tell you,the WGs are no match for them now, even ONE of my Cyborgs has the balls to confront a WPA on his own, however,I DO still gang up on em I also got some new technology too,and wasted no time in re-fitting my Science Division out, including some long awaited Psionics equipment, and the revolutionary bone shattering ULTRASONIC gun!,PERFECT for knocking the aliens' lights out! Shall we begin? As I said, here is my brutal 1st Mech Div,towering above the broken WG corpses https://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11hu1.jpgHere my Science Div breach an old UFO and confront their first target.I sent my Psi scout in front as she has equipment that enchances the teams' accuracy, and she also has a stealth enhancement. My Psi commander has equipment that augments the teams' damage, and is also kitted out with offensive devices. My Capture Specialist naturally has the awesome USG,and she also has a head device that scrambles the aliens' abilities to attack her properly, and her Trueshot Vambraces augment her sniping ability Finally,my trusty Psi Medic,I saw it only right to give her a healing collar and she plans to wear devices that generally protect the squad. https://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=26em1.jpgMy Capture Spec fires her devastating blast into the Brainman, nearly disintegrating the target in the process! haha.https://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=37mk.jpgShe fires a final blast into the Brainman, and with a damage readout like that (7784!!) its a wonder she didnt take the whole UFO with her! https://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=42xv.jpgNow here it was by chance I stumbled across the Psi vision mode, after all this time and I forgot about that bloody mode, and the performance was great as opposed to the very choppy UV mode. The colour was quite beautiful actually, with pulses of purple light radiating across the view.I didnt realise how effective the Psionics actually become, however,I dont include them in squads that are assigned to dangerous war environments, like against the WGs or Cult,as I use more conventional troops/methods.I am a man that tries to look after ALL his troops.https://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=54nk1.jpgLastly,just another shot to show off my new kit from a different angle *yep,im vain*https://img131.imageshack.us/my.php?image=65ai.jpgThe mission came to a quick end with not even a point of health deducted from the team.100% success.Hope the shots looked interesting,as I thought so.Keep posted for the imminent Hyper Technology breakthrough, which I expect to have in about a day or so.The date is June 1st in my game, and I have absolutely NO idea whats round the corner,so dont tell me! See yer!
Crazy Gringo
Well I'm back in action again even if my links to the other screenshots still are broken.... I will fix them though so hang in there.Either way I some some screenshots for ya and you'll find the old screenshots there too if you bother to check out the rest of the album there too. *Looks around for any copyright infringement people*. Most of the time now goes on with training my troops up and finding out which 12 people that will be the chosen few to do the dirty deed. Most of my skirmishes consists of fending of Wargots and Starghost from my territories which is doable with the right tools and tactics. Ambushes are the order of the day. SG Ambush Along with heavily defended positions Defensive positions I am adopting a new tactic that I call. Paralyse and explode The short version of it is paralyse the heck out of your enemy and blow them up. I might consider trying it with a mine instead of grenades of satchel charges. (You move. You die a explosive death!) And yes my good old nemesis Air Wargot made an appearance along with it's sidekick the Wargot Power Armor. And starring Air WargotTwo railgun shots to the head send him flying.Guest starring Wargot Power Armor Until next time....Be sure to guard the final free frontier....The internet. Martian base commander
Nice to see yer back CG. Well, its been a few days since I last posted, and so I thought I'd just send a couple of shots I did earlier in the week. Here my Mech.Div Commander tackles a Wargot on his own within a raging inferno. The Wargot literally flew about 30ft across the screen after taking a Plasma blast to its face https://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=13fz4.jpgAnd here we have my Heavy Infantry pummeling a WPA with some nice concentrated fire...as you can see The squad is still in its infancy, but seems to be fighting pretty well against the WGs,in fact a whole squad comprised of NON-ENHANCED Psionics could wipe out these thick brutes I think.https://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=26jf1.jpgThats all for now,so,see you soon. Crazy Gringo
Okay I am back after a visit to the great peanut in the sky....But before going up there I had get rid of some pests called Starghosts and Wargots The stars have fallen Riot Control When onboard the giant peanut and fighting their way through it my brave troopers soon encountered a couple of old friends....The Air Wargots. Weightless in Space Fly away Wargot! The WPA's also wanted show my troops the coldness of space. But my men showed them the cold grip of death instead. WPA's Enmasse While pushing through onward to their objective the Starghosts decided to make a appearence which was cut short. Concentrated firepower in action And to make a otherwise story short some highlights from the adventure on the giant peanut in the sky.Now what is this? Notice the damages Just hanging out When my troops returned from the giant peanut in the sky. The cultist whined alot about a lot of things and tried to take a slice of my territory. But they were quickly shown the door leading to the Hereafter. Sneaky Cultist

Crazy Gringo
Welcome back Blueblood! I have started a new somewhat unmodded game which had become a old stale cheese because I had let sit for a long while on my harddrive. So when I merrily started it up again I got my rear handed to me by those freakish mutants. I gotta whip myself into shape for UFO: Afterlight so I guess it back in the saddle on my hound of war and charge once more into the fight. Martian base commander
Here I have 3 rather average shots from my current game (3rd time lucky?),showing my quickly developing (after much number crunching on the ideal squad lineups) Mechanized Infantry kicking some Wargot plating. After recently aqquiring 2 Defender drones I decided to test their abilities against the Wargots.Initially I was impressed by their rate of fire, but their susceptibility against energy based weapons seems a significant drawback,as these appear to be the Wargot's preferred weapons, however I am researching drone power shields which I suspect will give them better protection against energy. This first shot shows my squad after deploying just outside the bunker, and bumping into a fairly decent sized Wargot mob. They soon felt the heat as my lasers seared right through their shite armour https://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...23202207db7.jpgThis second shot shows the team inside the lower levels, mopping up more WEAKgots hahah!,again with more pummeling from my drones' lasers https://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...23204158pm0.jpgAnd lastly, more lasers...and fire, but the drones have great fire protection,so I left em to battle on within the inferno! https://img362.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...23204308oo2.jpgculminating in?...another easy victory for my team Anyone having trouble tackling Wargots should study their stats for starters, and realise their huge vulnerabilities against energy weapons, and they have absolutely NO protection against PSI attacks, hence my VERY wise decision this time to include a Psionic for the very job,to screw with their feeble minds!I am also considering replacing the Cyborg A.A unit for a drone A.A.to kick even more crap out of the WPAs!I am slowly getting into my game once more, and am seriously determined to see these Starghosts and whatever else lurks beyond. Have fun chaps.
Martian base commander
Well, these are my additions for the night All I can say for this 1st shot is LOOK AT THE HUGE DAMAGE this cow is causing! she wiped out the entire WG squad before any of them even got anywhere near the rest of my squad! Thanks to her pumping herself full of willpower and intelligence narcotics LOL prior to battle and her trueshot vambraces and thermal sighting on the gun (WGs emitt lots of heat it seems). For the record W.D.U. means Wargot Disrupter Unit https://img245.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...26211607vk7.jpgNext shot shows her creating more havoc against the WGs and their frail minds, with the new addition of her image projector. That laser blast caught the WG right under its chin hehe.https://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...27001530co6.jpgA shot here showing my other squad, the X-Marines,who engage mutants and Rets. That is a NICE mushroom cloud I managed to catch as my Incinerator unit fryed the Flatster P.A.U. = Psionic Augmentation Unit (yes I am vain,so what).https://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ss...27010745ri4.jpgThese 5 shots I am showing next simply show the current stage of my game, and my next move (for those interested,if not bypass them).I have almost conquered the Americashttps://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...27012954sc8.jpgThe whole of Europe is safe.Central and N.Europe Europe serves as my main research hub,and the rest of the world contributes mainly to manufacturing.https://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...27013006qz4.jpgAfrica is secure.https://img466.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...27013023qp3.jpgThe Cultists hold mainly the east and Australasia...for now.https://img180.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...27013037ev4.jpgMy next move is to invade Australia, and attempt to cut off the Cultist rear, slowly compressing it.No problem! https://img453.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...27013051zr3.jpgThats it for now,may post some tomorrow. Martian base commander
Guess i'm the only one who bothers about this section these days.Oh well,it keeps me occupied for a bit.To say I started this section AGES ago now its not done bad with over 11,000 visits! Anyhow,I just have 3 for tonight.First one shows a couple of Greys about to become toast as they walk into a nice mine ambush, set up by my little drone hehe.https://img385.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...30213016fc0.jpgThis one shows the unfortunate aftermath for the aliens.https://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...30213038ua7.jpgFinally,more mines, this time I laid about 5 leading right up to my fortified position inside the UFO I really enjoyed this mission, and enjoyed the mines even more! a great asset to your squad, more so against the thick skulled WGs! great for fortifying your position in a building https://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...30225616tv2.jpgSee yer for now.
