Preda
Nothing too spectacular, just that ridiculous Cultis leader and his pathetic speech https://img377.imageshack.us/img377/5093/theidiotman6kt.th.jpg
Pete
He gave me the same speech twice over the course of a few missions. Ho-hum! *SPOILER/HELPFUL INFO FOR THOSE STUCK* I think this is the trigger where you can progress to some more research after destroying the Wargot ship though, as he only goes through his speech on a mission with Wargots in if I remember correctly and you then research Wargo/Cultist Collaboration. Preda
never worked for me. I just finished Militia HQ research, built some, and now my laputa lab is taskless.
Pete
Spin the globe for a few days in game time and do lots of missions. I think it helps if you're close to the cultist territories too, but these scripted bits of research don't reveal their triggers in the glossary screen which is a bit awkward in my opinion. Martian base commander
Well, here we have one of the most valuable and overlooked commodities of war,the humble Grenadier. https://img186.imageshack.us/my.php?image=grenade18zu.jpg As you can see he has maneuvered himself into quite a nice little position under that bridge, while my Scout can just be seen in the distance under the next bridge. That chunk of junk wont know whats gonna be hitting him in about 2 seconds. It WAS a problem getting him into a good throwing position, but now the grenade is primed there is no turning back. This first grenade was a beauty,it really sent them screws flying!https://img186.imageshack.us/my.php?image=grenade20jr.jpg This second grenade really ensured that the piece of s##t will be going back to where he belongs...the scrapyard!https://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=grenade30vu.jpg I hope these shots have made you think more highly of this very much underestimated fellow, the Grenadier. They were and still are well known for their toughness and bravery. Slaughter
My Laputa was just attacked by the Wargots. The mission crashed two times now however, so I'm a little frustrated! I got this screen capture of a Wargot going down first however: Back to try again, with saves every so often this time.
Martian base commander
Cheers Slaughter. This shot is visually boring, its only here to introduce some of you to my NEARLY complete Alpha Squad,or Anti Mutant Squad. And as I have just this very minute (I know some of you have neutron based weapons by now ) managed to get hold of my first heavy duty machine gun and grenade launcher I have to say this team is becoming VERY proficient and deadly!. This shot will hopefully serve to give some of you who may be having trouble configuring their teams some ideas. This team is also based around real life tactical marine squads too,or so I am to believe hehe.Bear in mind I am still without my sniper here. https://img460.imageshack.us/my.php?image=squada6hd.jpg As you can see,my heavy gunner is on point, and so far everything that fell onto that point ended up looking fairly unwell after a few rounds.Just behind is my Grenadier who is now armed with his very first grenade launcher,he is there to provide additional short and medium grenade support to the gunner,he is also perfect for making Flatster soup too .Behind him is my squad leader who has a fairly obvious role, and my 2 long range gunners are flanking him,1 covers the left flank,1 covers the right respectively. One of my riflemen is also my combat medic too.The other rifleman will be my combat engineer in the future, and will be able to lay explosives and use mines ect (cant bloody wait for that). Finally at the rear is my Psi Scout and future sniper, she is on rear guard. This team could be used on nearly all missions, except for Cultist missions, which will be deferred to Charlie Squad,my Heavy Infantry. On a final note, you can see I have 2 so called long range riflemen, anyone think it may be wiser to give THEM a MG too?,after all it DOES have longer range than the HK33,and would naturally give the team more firepower. I would love to see some of YOUR setups here too.

Martian base commander
Hey I just noticed,it was an ambush Slaughter, wasnt it?.I just noticed the chap in the distance. 5 stars for an ambush!
Slaughter
Looks like a good team you have there mate! You should really get your sniper ready though! I have two snipers with third level training, and can thus target body parts. Suffice to say that head shots usually do it's dirty work . And yes, the attack was sort of a ambush, except I don't think my sniper had time to fire.
Martian base commander
Thanks Slaughter I tell you what I WAS thinking,a team based around the marine squad from the film Aliens, remember?,with the 2 guys with them REALLY large smart guns,a few pulse rifles too with grenade launchers. And as hicks said when the Zenomorph burst its head through their APC door "I like to keep one handy, for those close encounters",meaning his shotgun.A shotgun in reserve should be a must for any bug hunter
Martian base commander
Slaughter I finally got my hands on some nice additions to the my Alpha Squad. The only thing left is the Sniper as you said. They are gaining lots of XP out there too,my leader finally made his grade to Commander! I reckon they will soon be ready to battle the Cultists finally, and grab those territories.I must also add that the date is 21st April, and just under 3 days to go before the alien craft touches down.I have a GOOD feeling that the battles may start to get interesting then.As I now have access to grenade launcher add ons too my Grenadier has been upgraded to Rocketeer and demolitions expert, while my squad leader now has the role of grenade support on the front.I love the new look of his gun too, just like the pulse rifle from Aliens! https://img53.imageshack.us/my.php?image=alphasquad9jj.jpg Try and do some shots of your team if you dont mind,I love seeing other folks' setup you know. NOTE:As this squad is dealing with just Mutants I didnt see the need for the hardest hitting weapons or armour, and so no Cyborgs were ever needed. The Rocketeer therefore is fully stocked up on fire grenades, for the walking carpets (flatsters) of course . He also has the role of smashing the shit out of any Mutants hidden in buildings too!. I think the squad has a bright future, with the addition of even better weapons! Slaughter
Nice lighting effects there. What option did you enable? Gamma post-process?To be honest I have no idea. I just start the game with the Play (High quality) option, and haven't really studied the options closely. I'll have a look though. @P_Riley_UK: I love Aliens! (the movie) Looks like quite a team you got there! I'll try to get a picture of my own team up tonight.

Martian base commander
I play with all the eye candy on,except for the unit shadows, which only serves to pull on the performance even more and serves no important purpose for me.I find shadows to be a problem in a lot of games to be honest. Just for the record my system is as follows (and I built it all from scratch, saves you snooping aimlessley around all these so called 'PC specialist' stores) Lian LI Aluminium case, with 5 fans,550W PSUIntel P4 3ghz with HTIntel D875PBZ MoboATI Radeon Sapphire X800 PRO 256MBSound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card.2046 MB PC2700 ( I think that was the memory grade) system memory. Latest mobo & AGP drivers. <------ makes a HUGE difference to your games. And of course,Direct X9c. And the game still has severe performance issues in areas, ive noticed it mainly during and after explosions. And of course the LOS mode has a performance problem. Also, its important to note that I have 16x Anisotropic Filtering enabled on my card only!not through the game options, that way I get effects exclusive to my card, and not the games' default effects. This effect generally allows you to see more detail at greater distances, and also makes for a clearer and richer visual display. Other than that, game runs fine.

Crazy Gringo
Okay here's a the latest addition to my screenshots. Don't eat lead while crawling a ladderAnd yes the morelman did fall flat on his rear two times trying to climb the stair while gaining a lot of weight very fast.On the very same mission I nuked a couple of flatster with my nadelauncher while keeping them distracted. Martian base commander
Nice shot of your team DS. They have some very nice looking equipment, tools that I havent' got hold of yet.I remember the warp rifles from AM though And Gringo, you sadistic bugger, you really dont like morelmen do you?,that poor f####r,he had no chance Nice looking system you have too. Crazy Gringo
Morelmen or 'Moral Men'....Nope I don't like them even if they used to be humans....Why do they insist on hawking a nasty luger/booger at my troops when try could be blowing them away with the grenades or thing that makes big holes in fleshy bags of water that my troops are. The screenshot I saw of the Wargot looked a mutated version of Jar Jar Binks. Could that be why the game crashes every time they are on the screen. The computer simply refuses to show that mutated Jar Jar.
Martian base commander
I would have to say MORALmen are worse the Morelmen.I wonder if the developers had this in mind when they created this type of alien? an excuse to gun them down at every opportunity. And I hated that faggot Jar Jar Binks intensely. An insult to Lord Vaders' majesty that they could even create such an abortion to inhabit the Star Wars universe. In fact I disliked almost everything connected with the new Star Wars films.Vader would cringe in torment if he could see these whelps try and duel with their pig stickers!. *begins to choke at the mere memory of Vader and Skywalker in battle* HAIL VADER! Martian base commander
Just another random shot of Alpha Squad standing proudly alongside their burnt out love wagon hehe, who are coming along pretty nicely now. https://img356.imageshack.us/my.php?image=alpha0dy.jpg Thank f### my scout finally finished her sniper training. As this initial squad of mine is mainly used against aliens I decided these guys are gonna be fitted with laser and plasma based weaponry as soon as I can, instead of these conventional bullets, which will be used against the Cultists.I found my snipers' laser weapon pretty good against the aliens as it burnt a hole right through them in no time, the Muckstars fell even quicker than before with this gun.Energy based weaponry seems a natural choice against the aliens. One problem though, each time I try to lob a few grenades from the leaders' new modified gun it says he isnt skilled enough, anyone know why?,maybe he needs additional training. I am also lacking another soldier here,he is just finishing his technician training, and he promises me nothing will give him greater pleasure than blowing as many Flatsters back to space as he can! I now have exactly ONE day before the ship lands.
Preda
The ship doesn't land, Riley, it goes into orbit. Anyway, here is a screenshot I took while playing the mision with the crash bug described here As you can see, the wargots get toasted by their own grenades, AS WELL AS my team. The drone's initial name was AID-M1 (Artificial Intelligent Drone), but this is right after a load, so it lost the name. https://img488.imageshack.us/img488/1609/screenshot12jw.th.jpg
