Zarkov
Hi there, I recently got my x-com rush, a bi-annual occurrence where playing x-com is more important than sleep, food, girlfriend. What got me really excited this time was that I ran into an x-com collectors edition on eBay. I placed a bit and got it for a reasonable price. Well today the game arrived in the mail and I think it might be a copy. Now my question to you guys/girls what does you're Hasbro interactive x-com ufo collectors edition feel like. (do they feel a bit papery? or more like the regular cd's?) Normally I'd say copy but Hasbro has put out some substandard cd's in the past. Greets,Bart P.s. English is not my native tongue so apologies in advance for any stupid mistakes.
Zombie
I'm not sure what you mean by "papery", Zarkov. Do you mean that the disc feels thinner than normal, or does it just feel "different" somehow? My discs look and feel like a normal CD would. I took some scans for you to compare against your own. First is the discs: Next is the Front Insert: Finally, here is the Back Insert: Take a look at your discs and feel the silver MicroProse logo at the bottom. It should feel like it was inset into the disc. Feel the label on the disc too. It should have a somewhat rough texture. Also, the label side is "painted" on in my CE version. It is not an adhesive plastic label. Try to lightly lift up the label with your figernail. If it seems painted on, good. If its an adhesive label, bad (copy). Thats about all I can do to help. The rest is up to you. Good luck! - Zombie
Zarkov
Hi Zombie, Thanks for the scans, well my disks don't look you're scans at all. My disks are blue-ish with the Hasbro logo on them. But I've done a bit more experimenting and I can actually pull the label of at the edges. So I'm going to do some creative ranting at the person who sold me this. Once again thanks going through the effort of making some scans. Greets,Bart
Zombie
No problem, Zarkov. Glad I could help. Sorry to hear your discs might be copies. - Zombie
Pete
If it's the blue special edition, it should come in a large blue box, have three disks and five games (UFO, TFTD, Interceptor, Apocalypse and Email X-COM). The labels should be shiny and plastic though, not papery and peel-off.
Stun Grenade
Zarkov, if this was bought over eBay I would first e-mail ebay saying that you were sold dodgy merchandise. Simply selling pirated software/games is not tolerated on ebay one bit! PS: Nice scans Zombie. My $10 copy of X-COM does not look anything like that... instructions are in pdf form
