Hi fellow modders.

 

A year has passed since i have been working on the combo mod with Aralez, BlackAlmaz and others,

we did a great job, and now the time has come to meet and greet, so give yourself the honor to sign this thread,

not only if you are a veteran in AM modding, everyone is welcome who whishes to participate. Tell us about your

expirience and your skills you would like to use to mod Ufo:AF, and feel free to spin ideas about projects you would

like to work on.

 

 

Well i will make a start then for those who dont know who the hell i am and how

i came here...

 

My real name is Harald known as TYR, im 24 and i study Communication Science in vienna.

I have joined the modding community in May 2004, i already had some knowledge in 3ds,

but had no idea how to mod anything. I started to read every single thread in the modding forum,

some of them 10 times or more, and started to ask questions about anything. I got on alot of peoples

nerves i guess :D, but i managed to collect the knowledge of every single modder aviable,

exept the scripting thingys, this stuff is for the programmers really. However i became pretty good

and together with Aralez and BlackAlmaz i made the final version of the combo mod. Also we had

some other guys who made some very cool things like the plugin for Milkshape, or the camera mod

which where the foundation for our whole work. However this is the past, i want to bring in my skills

with modeling-texturing once again in the next version of this game UFO:AF, for now i have no plan

at all, but i would really like to see who else is aboard, so give a tell and say hello.

Always welcome Blehm, i actually never made glossary entrys for my models in AM, it was a little though and since i was doing modeling, texturing, icon creation, debugging i didnt really invest time in this, i was just happy to have it working and looking good.

I have finished AF two days ago, how about you?

 

If you still have the problem with the messed up research tree i can help you,

i had the same prob, edited my savegame and voila the Sgs could not stop me anymore

 

Since i have no idea what kind of and when we get the "tools" im uncertain about modding, however i will start with a steyr aug this week :phew:

i'm almost fisinshed work for the year they have granted me a months leave

i had to restart the game but its okay

send me a letter with the tools your using and how compatible they are

and a list of stuff to make

Howdy,

 

I just got back to the internet, my ISP caneled my account before my new one was done so i was out of order for the last two weeks :( , i think this might be a general conspirancy of reticulan-wargot-starghost alliance to prevent me from creating deadly weaponry to kick their asses.

 

However for editing the savegames i used the old vfstool from snigget, i extracted the gamedata.vfs changed the values in the strat_game.vfs file, where every technology has its value True or false for aviable or not. Since i was too lazy to fight off 30 paethic starghost attacks i simply gave me all technology to ensure i was able to research the "putting the pieces together" thingy and do the final mission.

 

Saved the file, repacked it, recounted it, and then copied it into the game directory.

 

Exept that i didnt try something else yet. Beside i have alot of stuff to do for college, i dont have heard anything about a 3d plugin yet. However in the xmas holidays i will start modeling weapons.

 

I suggest we start with the basic things, like aditional equiptment, Steyr Aug2, MG42 (for the real gunman)

, some pistols like colt 45, p90, plasma grenades, mines, etc...

 

what i have really missed are all the mutant species, maybe we could adapt the aftermath models and retexture them for aftershock?

I need plenty of models (58 as of v2.18) for my Weapon Rebalance mod ...

damn why cant we get together and talk this through...i have had no time what so ever i'll be back at work on the 16 so i'll have some net time i'll npm you guys my email address so we can talk but there are still small problems to over look

Just one question by me:

 

They promised us better modding support, and as i see 3 months later nothing changed,

im kinda pissed of how altair treats their community. :cool:

 

Anyways if any talented programmer finally creates a tool for us modders to import/export stuff

give me a tell.

There's been some progress on the model export / import as can ben seen here and here. Sadly it's not been finished yet. Skinning is doing well here however :D

 

 

yeah well as we know from as skin making wasnt the biggest problem...so yeah once some modeling tools come out than...

 

can you make a request on the news for some to be made

Yeah, I might do that. I'll hold it off for a little while yet however, as ALTAR should become more active in the community again now.

 

still nothng...

i got that new weapon mod, and i have found some new models...if some one plz give me the details on how the edit them than i'll be heappy to make soe new ones, or even my own mod

Yeah, check out the modding forum at the official boards BA. There's not much, but a little...

 

 

if i think about it i can make diffrent skins in game....it actually easy once i looked at the code

slaughter can you do something for me....cause i'll be gone for a week can you get in touch with them and organise some info for.. i'll be next week and if you get me some usefull info i will start moding on monday

 

the mod will even have a start movie

i have just started modding, i might need new people but i'll wait asking untill i have finished righting up the hall story line....

 

features....

-advanced weapons, will include only weapons reserched by laputa...that means no other factin will have them....they will be balanced to be better than human weapons

-new tank models,

-movie.. small story of a the commender being recruted by the previes generation, and strating up his own offancive to retake the earth, as a new area of laputa is discoverd, and the population in space has reached the tech level they are upto now

-i will also draw up pics of weapons. that will be intraduced..if posible armours will be edited in one way or anouther...

-load outs

-enemy numbers and loadouts....

-some will be very simple, some very advanced, so be carfull who you attack

-armours, weapons...i'm taking ideas from alot of games, animations, and movies...

my biggest idea came from apple seed

 

i'm not shore what to call it...it might retain the name call to arms,

4 pages of ideas are already done, plus a script for the movie

Sounds good BA! You might want to visit the official boards as well, as the modding community is currently stronger there. Do treat us to some pictures when you have something to show :)

 

 

i'm so sorry ive been over seas for the past few months..... short notice deployment....

 

anyways..i have only 3 more weeks from today at this posting and i'm off if my new base has the facilaties i'll start work around december....

 

if any one is intersted helping...sighn up...i'll check back in a few weeks...when i finished moving
