ricardo440
Well having not played Apoc for years, I followed the instructions on various threads and now have a it working. (perhaps you should put getting Apoc to work on XP + related stuff as a sticky in the tech forum) I immediately started a Superhuman game, and am now in the latter stages. But I have a small problem.Every single time I fight the aliens Diablo change their opinion of me to lovey dovey friends, then Megapol and the Government both hate me. I prove where my true friends are to Mega and Gov by raiding the Diablo skum, but every week they forget that I raided them 4 times, stole all their stuff and killed all their men. They start to like me again and Gov and Mega hate me.It all went wrong when the aliens sent a load of bombers through to level the city, and I had nothing to stop them. I have since decided to take decisive action. I destroyed every UFO in the alien dimension so there should be no more fights above MegaPrimus, and then I leveld a building of Diablo, and the CoS. Hopefully that will sort it permenantly. Oh, and does Toxin C do full damage to humans? Devastator cannons are great on raids as the collateral damage is huge. I was just wondering though As Toxi guns save the shields if it is worth using them.
Pete
They do damage eventually on humans if I recall correctly, but it takes a while for them to go down. Still, you can manufacture toxin C quicker than personal shields
Gimli
People actually use Toxiguns? I never used them in the game. By the time I got them I already had Devastators, and they had "infinite" ammo. That, and it looked like Star Wars. Hmm, is it possible to change the color of the Devastator beams? ricardo440
People actually use Toxiguns? Holy cow, they are the uber weapon of ultimate death. Your men miss with them all the time, but they lay down so much fire that they kill aliens in a second. I have shot an alien in a corridor and 8 guys blasted off 3 rounds each before the first struck home. When I wnadered up the corridor I had killed that alien and the 5 behind it too. They are a pain to keep moving the ammo clips onto your troopers after every mission (just lots of irritating clicks of the mouse) but they are sooooo unbelievably good. Cannons destroy shields. Toxiguns go straight through them. I have over 80 spare shields in my stocks, and I have never built one.
Kret
Ricardo440, this usually happens when enough UFO stray shots hit buildings of a given faction. This will make the faction "hate" the aliens, unless they're CoS. It will also cause factions that are hostile to the one that was attacked see the aliens as friendly. And in this game the 3 crime syndicates are hostile towards both megapol and the goverment and thus we reach your predicament. The only effective way to fix this is to have a UFO "accidentally" fire at either goverment or megapol buildings
ricardo440
NNNNNNNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I have attacekd them 20 times, and I jsut leveled one of their buildings completely, and now the *****rds a FRIENDS with me. NKF
It sounds less like Diablo's strange affection for you rather than the government and Megapol having a sudden interest in the aliens. --- Tip: For equipping a multiple soldiers with lots of toxigun clips, have all your soldiers that use toxiguns keep clips in the same item slots. Make sure you have enough ammo for everyone. Then, select multiple soldiers by holding down control when you click their portraits in the inventory screen. Arm the one soldier, and all the others will automatically load the clips into the same slots. Those that already have clips in the slots will not get more clips. If you want to automatically un-equip soldiers (Say you've got a mess of soldiers with items all over the place), fill the slots with random items, and remove everything, and everything in those slot will be emptied. Now fill them the way you want. This works with any item, but is particularly useful for equipping toxigun clips. - NKF
ricardo440
Well there is no infiltration in any organisation except CoS which went 100% in the first week or so. I'm killing an alien building every 2 days, so it shouldn't last long. Every sunday I just blast Diablo's pittiful block of flats. Can't remember the best way to take out the last one. IIRC Dimension missles work a treat, but don't know if I should take the launchers in, or just help myself to the dead skeletoid's ones.
Bomb Bloke
When a unit arrives back at base, it will automatically attempt to equip the same items it had when it left (so long as you have sufficient stock). Doesn't do it instantly, give it a couple of hours, but it saves you doing it manually each time.
NKF
Doesn't that only happen for partially used clips (i.e. the clip is still in inventory)? I can't remember my units ever refilling empty slots after a mission if the clip itself has dissapeared from inventory or if something else is occupying the slot. --- For the final building - Devestators and dimension missiles work fine. Anything that will deal pure damage to the scenery is all you need to win this mission. If you've got teleporters, you could probably even chance it with power swords, but I'd either use it at an angle to extend its normal attack range, or chop and then teleport away the moment the generator starts to explode. Toxiguns are recommended but only for wiping out the defenders, not for the actual disabling of the building. Your goal is to disable the laser grid generators, and you only need to disable one in a pair surrounding the large pit. You can, oddly enough, use anti-alien large and mini rockets to disable them with their impact damage, but not AAG grenades. Don't ask. I don't know the answer to that. - NKF
ricardo440
I think last time I did it (which was years ago) I went in toxi guns blazing. Killed all the aliens. Sat some guys by the spawn points to kill any reinforcements. And then looted the dead aliens for enough explosives to finish the job.
