Duma
Obviously this isn't going to lead to any increase in detail in the unmodified game, but since someone seems to have found how to edit the palette, wouldn't it be possible to use XCOMUTIL to detect what terrain the mission was taking place on and swap (ie move from folders to replace the XCOM files) palette and graphics files, hence allowing the colours to be better suited to the current terrain? (eg: You've little use for fluorescent green in a desert mission). Anyone have any suggestions as to practicality or difficulties?
BladeFireLight
The dificulty would be in the editin the images. their are no viewrs to test the changes. as they all use a internal pallet adapting the pallet on the fly might work. but I'm not sure. I know that hybrid games have an expanded pallet.
Munkeylord
you can add extra palettes, i've done it before but like blue said it all runs off of an internal palette. if you add extra stuff you would most likely need to modify the palette hex code so it would work. and i'm not even sure if it would work or not. yes and editing graphics for xcom is a bitch. if a image is one pixel off it looks deformed and funny
