Are thrown knives a "ranged weapon"?

Hi Everyone,

 

The Scout has the perk "Increase damage using ranged weapons". Does a thrown knife count as a "ranged weapon", or is a ranged weapon strictly a firearm?

I think ranged weapon is thrown knives & grenades but uncertinaty factor is rather huge so for Gods sake get at least 2:nd oppinion.

Surely they are? They are used at range, not in hand-to-hand combat.

I don't think they count as 'ranged weapons'. I think the game thinks of them as 'melee throwing weapons'.

I donno a *hit about perks .

If character is a good grenade thrower it means a good knife thrower too (grenadiers). But how grenades damage can be raised... sounds like some kind of engineering stuff(make pile charge). So I think it is sure for knifes(damage) and maybe for grenades, explosion charges (dynamite), bazookas and PK mortars (otherwise it is for all but not melee).

After reading all of the comments, I think the consensus is that Knives that can be thrown are "ranged" weapons. I'll go with that for now. Thanks to all of the commenters.
