Glad to hear Bioshock is excellent, can't wait to play it! In five years...

The PC demo is due out today. Not sure if you need XBL to get at it. My system specs are approximately half that of the minimum, but I suspect I'll try and download it anyway.

(I got the video card... That's all that counts, right? ....Right? )

Ah, the optimism. I'd rather not even try. But someday I'll buy a quantum computer with OLED display. You just wait.

I want those they use on Star Trek, with the Bio-Neural Gel packs. The same ones that all those Holodecks share processing power on.

No way those are going to get obsolete anytime in the next few hundred years

Just played through the Bioshock demo (been a long time since I did any gaming at all really). It was very impressive art, graphic and sound wise! That being said, I wish they made it a "Deus Exish" game instead of a "normal" FPS. Sure the plasmids are fun, and the AI is good, but the FPS action prevents you from truly enjoying the fantastic atmosphere. Didn't help that my poor rig was pushed to it's limits and STILL lagged a little of course. I need to play it more, and give the full game a spin before deciding one way or another, but so far it feels like the FPS is messing up the atmosphere.

I advice everyone with the rig to run the game giving the demo a spin though! The atmosphere and art is truly inspirational!

Did anyone else try it?

I have the actual game of Bioshock.

I cannot help but compare it to System Shock though... Just prior before buying it, I played through all of System Shock 2, just to get in the mood. But Bioshock, ufortunately, falls short on many of System Shock's features. While there is indeed some strategy in the mix, I didn't feel like much creativity was needed, unlike the System Shock games. Felt more like a FPS and not as much like a strategic shooter.

Also, by comparison, I felt that System Shock was more streamlined. I was always able to approach containers, open them, procure items, use whatever items I wanted, reorder inventory as needed, and shut the container in less than a second or two. In Bioshock, it feels much clunkier to get items, which is inexcusable because it doesn't even have an inventory.

If I were to exclude the System Shock influence, Bioshock is certainly a high quality game and worthy of anyone's purchase. Neat graphics, awesome story, and a truly horrifying atmosphere that made me scared more than once.

I just got the legendary edition, complete with the metal figurine of the "Big Daddy".

Ghost Squad, ace arcade light gun game, is coming to the Wii. 25 weapons, 16 difficulty levels, plenty of routes through each level, sniping, hand-to-hand combat and plenty of submachine gunnery.

https://www.roanoke.com/extra/wb/140184 - Ah, moral panic.

The history of objections to toy guns is almost as long as the history of the toy, from Rose Simone, concerned Chicago citizen, who organized toy-gun-burning bonfires in 1934 and 1935, to the state senators in New Jersey who are stumping for a statewide ban on selling imitation firearms to those younger than 18.

Why don't they enclose an application to the NRA in every box as well?...The marketing person who came up with this brainchild of an idea should be fired."

Geddit, fired? Toy gun? No? Well, perhaps it wasn't a joke after all. Oh well.

'Weird Worlds' is an apt title for a game of, well... discovery. Hurl yourself into space with your ship and who knows what might happen.

There's basically no number crunching involved and anything you need to know about any planet, ship, artifact, event, mercenary, whatever is quickly conveyed visually by a textual description and some art. What little there is to learn will be promptly dispensed by the built-in tutorial.

Even if you spend only a small amount of time with it I think it's fair to say you'll come away with some fun stuff to share with others. Here's a brief list of memorable things that happened during my time with the demo:
