Kizmiaz
So, I put my new rig together and finally got rid of my old Hercules GTXP 5.1 board since it had begun to stutter and such. For the first time I'm using the built-in sound (C-Media's CMI9761A) but it sounds a little thin, even how much I tweak the equalizer. (Xear 3D)I'm running the sound trough my HT-system. Now, I've been looking at some Soundblaster (Audigy ZS?) at roughly 50 USD, but I wonder if it's worth it?Is there any better cards? I only need one for playing & music.
Jman4117
Most any card is good enough as long as it's wave/mp3 that you are playing. If it's midi get a higher end one.
Kizmiaz
Mm, if I were into midi, I'd probably know more.
Slaughter
I think the Audigy card you mention is a good card. If you're not happy with the one you have already, it's probably worth it. You should check some tests and so on.
Matri
The Audigy series is top of the line, capable of processing multiple environmental audio effects, provided you select EAX 3+ as your sound driver.
Kizmiaz
Ok. It leans toward the Audigy. After all I already used up an AWE 32 and a Live!. My only concern is if it has the same oomph my Hercules had. (Very subjective, I know)
Kernel
When it comes to sound, Creative are one of, if not THE, best out there. A lot of people used to have problems with their drivers but they seem to have improved quite a lot since their early days. The Audigy card get's my thumbs up It's what I have. (We need a thumbs up smilie! )
