CyAm
I've just gotten a copy of the original X-COM: UFO Defense from a friend. I'm struggling through the game as best I can, but it would really help if I could find a copy of the manual. Anyone know where I can get it? Bastiaan
I got it on acrobat reader on the collector's edition, but how can I send that? Does it fit in an email?
Crazy Photon
you can send him it via an email attachment, but you have to be careful not to exceed the e-mail box capacity of his, or the mail size limit of yours... EDIT: Anyway, the manual is not so useful, at least it didn't do anything for me...
CyAm
I'd love it if you could send me the manual via e-mail. send it to casey.monroe@sdentertainment.net. The mailbox limit on my end is pretty big, so there shouldn't be a problem. Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.Casey
Crazy Photon
I'd send it to you know but I'm at work, so If Bastiaan doesn't send it to you I shall bring the CE CD tomorrow and send it to you

NKF
Well, the manual is nice for reminding yourself how the interface works. But it doesn't provide much else to help you play the game better. Strategy guides and actual experience might be more useful. Oh, and the glossary says that the Skyrangers are leased from the Russian Air Force. What's that got to do with anything? Um, I dunno. But seeing as these are not in the manual, here are some things that you wouldn't have spotted without a bit of experimentation (or at least I don't recall seeing them in the manual): Pressing any key on the keyboard toggles the text overlays for the globe in the Geoscape. (Anyone who's played the game for some time will have spotted this one by now) Clicking on the zoom buttons in the geoscape will increase or decrease magnification when you click on them with the left mouse button right? The right mouse button will set it to its respective maximum zoom level. Not particularly useful, but it can save you a few clicks. In the dos version of UFO and TFTD: ctrl+backspace makes a copyright symbol. I suppose this is more of a bug than an actual game feature. - NKF
Bastiaan
What....Crazy, can you send stuff attached to a PM? I am still trying to figure out how to send it by email....
Crazy Photon
No, you cannot LOL If you're using Outlook or Outlook Express: To send an attachment by mail you have to click on that button that is like a clip, and then choose the files.... or you can drag and drop from the explorer window to the "new message" window

CyAm
Thanks, guys. All I needed the manual for was to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious in the game interface. I have a copy now, so I should be golden. Thanks for your help!
