farrenj
I love X-Com. I've loved it since it was released back in the early 90s. I also rather enjoy roleplaying, pen and paper, tabletop, whatever you choose to call it. Recently I've found myself being the default storyteller, gm, dm.. again.. pick ya poisin, for my group, no biggie. I've decided to combine the two things I love and run a X-com game for my poor players. Now, any of you who have ever played X-com.. you know that feeling, the feeling of new recruits going around the corners, having no idea what's there, and the feeling of immenent doom? Yah, I need music I can play in the background while I storytell to help set the mood. Nothing horribly overstated either that you have to listen to when it's played, something that can simply play in the background. Any ideas? I've already ripped the X-com soundtracks. Oh.. uh.. and hi everyone.
Slaughter
For fantasy P&P I like to use Enya, The Braveheart soundtrack, The Gladiator soundtrack, Last of the Mohicans soundtrack and so on. Not sure if it would work well with X-Com though. Hard to find something that isn't too dominating. Oh, and welcome to the boards!
NKF
If you're into TFTD, go for Metallica's Call of Cthulhu. Only ever heard a midi/mod version of this, but it fit so well into a terror site I was playing that I got completly creeped out at one point. Um, I can't say for sure what music would fit UFO. It all depends on your taste of music I guess. - NKF
Alitorious
Some of that eerie classical music, like Mozart or Strauss. Nah, seriously, you want something minimalist, I'd think. Maybe with a bunch of high strings, or maybe a real big double bass section. Just be sure to have it quiet enough that you only think you hear it half the time.
