Aralez
After almost 7 years i'm back to UFO and TFTD thanks to this forum and the mentioning of the dosbox program. I'm using the XcomUtil program and slowly get back into the game. But i have one question: Where can i find some midi-files of this games ? Or is there a tool to extract them from the game ? I looked on several sites and found only some Playstation version music, but somehow i like the originals better...
Jman4117
If you have the Windows version you have midi files in /sound/. If not, many of the fan sites have the files in their download sections.
Slaughter
*Removed* has it. I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's okay to download it, but as long as you own the original I think it's fine. As for Dosbox, forget it. These work fine on their own.
Aralez
I have SEVERAL original discs from UFO and TFTD, all the Collector's Edition. And i had the Playstation Version once.... *Link removed* WAS a nice site once, but now with all that Spyware and plugins and script-stuff they want to install: No, thx. I guess i'll stick to Dosbox, the performance is not very good, but that somehow reminds me of my old computer back then, i like it Thx for the tip, nonetheless! Slaughter
Spyware? Hadn't noticed, and I understand why you have to write the letters to download. Very annoying when people link to your downloads... Anyway, the good thing with the *link removed* version of the game is that it includes f0dder's fix, so it's just to unpack and play. But if you like to punish yourself, be my guest [Edit by Zombie: removed link.]

Pete
Also, if you head over to https://xcomutil.scotttjones.com, you get f0dder's fix and a load of other toys to play with to make for a unique gaming experience once again! Put troops inside your fighter craft for example and visit mission sites with a squad of six! Randomise maps so you never get the same terrain twice! Let the computr auto-play a battle for you so you don't have to play every mission! The list is fairly exhaustive!

ApOcaLyPSe_1985
Hey, If you give me your e-mail address then I will send you all midi files of UFO and TFTD. Usually you could get them from XCommand but they are unavailable right now. Perhaps because it's hosted on FilePlanet (HATE!)

Slaughter
Hmm, that post didn't even link to the game. Now well, guess I'll just link to your profile next time . Seriously though, you are probably right. But as I said in the other thread, it annoys me.
Bomb Bloke
I only really complain on the basis that legal action could be taken against the forum, but... even I don't think that's likely. I know I link(ed) to *link removed* in my sig, but I put that thing there back in the days when they still had a Faq item saying 'Why don't you have X-Com etc?'. I guess it's about time I remove it, I suppose... [Edit by Zombie: removed link.]
cyrus
*Link removed* is a good site in some way, it has many good games, that now are really *link removed* and which very problematic to find now. Although, they don't have the Battle for Britain. Still, I think that everybody interested now knows the place, so further linking to it isn't necessary (as the saying goes: if you don't know, how to find us, we don't wish to have business with you) [Edit by Zombie: removed links.]
