shagpuss
Well this is how Winter Assault stands so far..... Druidika just posted this bit of info: Seems like the May issue of Gamestar (major games magazine in Germany) has some new info about Winter Assault, as well as some screenies. I don't have access to a scanner at the moment, so I'll see what I can do about that later. Here are the facts: Units in squads look varied now, have slightly different height, faces and so onThere's a new feature called 'Kill-Cam' which shows a close-up of those spectacular finishing movesCommissar is included, and boosts the morale by executing soldiersSanctioned Psycher is inTechpriest Engineer is in. He repairs vehicles, and one of the screenies shows him carrying an axe for close combatThe Sentinel is in, the IG's walker unitThe Baneblade will have awesome firepower, but a rather weak armorThe Chimera troop transporter allows units to fire from the insideThe main hero will be the Imperial Captain, which is just a bit weaker than the Force Commander. Games Workshop will bring the unit to the tabletop soon. The 4 older races will get new units, but the article doesn't mention whichThere will be a 'good' campaign which will let you play the Space Marines, Eldar and the Imperial Guard, and an 'evil' campaign which will allow you to play with the Chaos Space Marines and Orks. Each of them will consist of about half a dozen missions. Please note that this is from an early version and might change until the retail hits. Lurker
I wonder why Aralez quit signaturing to his DoW Section. The Kernel site was there when I last went in to get goodies, but I don't know if it is always there. The Kernel site started as a temporary thing, and I'm not sure that Kernel or anyone expected it to get so large. Anyway, it would be nice if Slaughter and Pete would get with Aralez and host Aralez's DoW section on this site so that anybody can come in anytime and download Aralez's wonderful work at a reliable speed without the download hanging midway through as it did to some people on Kernel's site. Kernel's little site wasn't designed or meant to handle that kind of volume, in my humble opinion. On Kernel's site, I had to use GetRight when downloading, and even then, you couldn't download two files at once without at least one of them getting disconnected. GetRight was essential for mass downloadings from the DoW Section on Kernel's site, but I assume that this site could handle the volume. Pete? Slaughter? Slaughter
I am sure we can host the site (as a separate page, not a section here), but this is really up to Aralez.
Aralez
Most of the maps can be found in a map-pack at Dowfiles, no need for a seperate site imo.
shagpuss
No me neither. The demand won't b what it was in the old days.... Vs322 is the map you mentioned your creation?
Slaughter
Guess that's the reason he wants feedback on it...
Aralez
He won't get much, trust me, those DoW users are a lazy bunch when it comes to feedback...
vs322
Hey- yes the relic contest winner is my map- and yes I got very little feedback from it- I posted it at dowfiles and got two )very positive) comments and I thought that was nice, but now I see that 3000+ people downloaded it. That's a real low percentage who want to give feed back. BTW Abandoned faith is in the community map pack 2 so if you downloaded that then you've already got it. -vs
Aralez
Hm, cultists seem to be in every game these days, look at this preview screenshot from UFO Aftershock: Picture I know that Shagpuss will like this (A LOT!) vs322, the lack of feedback in the DoW community was the main reason why i stopped making maps for Dawn of War, even "small-community" games like Ufo Aftermath produced more feedback and posts than those lazy SM/Chaos/Ork/etc.. players (Damnit, i don't even remember the name of the fourth race...)
shagpuss
Is it Pie Mutants? Noooooo we must bow to the cultists.....is this the losing end game screenie? U can't defeat cultists everyone knows that! I will download the map pack and have a look and provide some words of...ummm....I can't say wisdom..so i'll just provide some words.. A, can you do the same or have you given up with DOW for now? Edit..... 2 player maps are my least favourite......but I will give it a go over the wknd.. (dusts off DOW...now how do you play this? Oh yeah I remember you build lots and lots of power generators!!!)

Thorondor
There's now an exclusive "Warhammer 40k: Winter Assault E3" preview at GameSpot :: Here's a snip about featured, top of the line, Imperial Guard hardware: "The faction's top-level superunit is the "baneblade," a gigantic mobile weapons platform with 11 mounted guns, including a humongous main cannon with two troopers to man it and constantly reload ammunition, alternately passing shells and plugging their fingers in their ears (and rocking back and forth) with each thunderous shot." p.s.: which rock has Aralez slipped under ? He hasn't been around much...

Slaughter
Yeah, a shame indeed. We had a small clash, and the result was far more dramatic that I had expected it to be. If anyone is still in touch with him, and can convince him to talk to me, I am sure we can fix this. I made a mistake, and I am sorry about that.
