jclark
Can anyone share their exprience using stealth to achieve any sort of surprise attack/ambush?? Cuz whenever I try using as much stealth as possible to move around a house, without any windows on the side I was on, somehow the enemies always know where I am and come out to my exact location to kill me.... kermix
There's a lot of factors to hiding in a house, including but not limited to the actual skills, and not leaving dead bodies lying where anyone passing by can see them... The hide/sneak stats on most classes aren't all that hot for starters. Scouts are better at it, but they can't endow your entire team with it. Hide and Crouch are a good start, but you can only get so close to people before they'll notice you on their next turn; you can't expect to stand right behind an enemy without triggering their reaction. So a little distance is also important for really good stealth. In the best case, when I started a new campaign with a Scout and maxed her dexterity, I left enough room to be able to run up on them for the last three or four steps - basically enough time for two flicks of the knife. With the other scouts on the roster, it's a little harder for me to kill someone in two knife hits, so maybe they didn't have as high a Strength or something. Anyway, less/slower movement seems to help, and the stealth chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Engineers, for example, stink at it. Stealth is a good tactic, but your guys have to practice a lot to get the most out of it as a group. If you're going to hide and crouch, everyone around you has to do it, and you can't depend on it alone for survival. As long as you're being careful, I say save some of your APs for a snap shot (at least) and look in the directions you expect resistance from.
